Got a lot done tonight.
Ls7 lifters, spider tray thingy, dog bones, oil pan and gasket, oil drive unit with saver, timing chain, cover and gasket.
Got the heads tore down except for the springs (buddy didn't have spring compressor with him, and the studs, my electric impact wasn't doing the job

A couple of questions, there were 2 little square 90 degree angle bend brackets that were in my "oil pan ziplock" Amy ideas what they are for? I'll try to get a pic up.
Also, I still need to know if the 1.4xx od springs will work on my heads.Last edited by mcalus; January 24th, 2012, 04:01 PM.2002 Z28 Camaro A4

That it is, thanks. Those 2 square 90degree things go in the rear corners of your oil pan. They are hold down tabs that go on like they are washers under the head of your oil pan bolts.Originally posted by mcalus View PostI sure hope that is your new plate in you avatar

I've always used them, but I like to do things to exact spec. I can't say if they actually work or not.Originally posted by mcalus View PostAre they needed?sigpic

Any suggestions on arp vs new stock head bolts? Which should I go with? What sealant should I use? Can I reuse stock intake bolts or are they TTY?2002 Z28 Camaro A4

I would definitely go with ARP head bolts. This last time I went with ARP intake bolts all the way around the intake and had a different alternator bracket made. The arp intake bolts were cheap and they look clean, but you would be totally fine reusing intake bolts. They are not tty.Originally posted by mcalus View PostAny suggestions on arp vs new stock head bolts? Which should I go with? What sealant should I use? Go the housing painted on the EWP. It's better than before. Is there a gasket that goes under the t stat neck? I think this one just had rtv.

160 t stat or 180?
This may be a weird/noob question but since it's bored .030 over would I need a bigger headgaskets? Wouldnt it overhang the cylinder?
Also, where the heck can I get my initial tune? Since its speed density. Mad tuner nor PCM for less will tune 93s.Last edited by mcalus; January 24th, 2012, 11:20 PM.2002 Z28 Camaro A4

I would go with 160, and you don't need special headgaskets for an overbore. I was .040 over and used felpro 1074.Originally posted by mcalus View Post160 t stat or 180?

I ordered intake gaskets, headgaskets and new head bolts. Also dropped off the heads to be milled and hot tanked. Lloyd emailed me and said the springs will work fine with no head work needed.
