I have a guy that can build it for me. I just want something that will hold up to the normal abuse without breaking the bank. I'm almost leaning towards a stock rebuild on it.2002 Z28 Camaro A4

So a couple of things I have figured kinda odd about this car...
I originally bought this car at ~89,xxx miles. At sometime the trans has been replaced, kind of odd for that low of mileage. My buddy is trying to hunt down the correct washer for the hub and ran my block numbers, the vin doesn't match the car and the block is supposedly a 96 lt4. I don't know what his sources but aren't lt4's 4 bolt main only? Why would the block only be different? Fishy...
On another note, Rolo hooked me up with a dash pad and a fuse panel door tonight!!! WOOT!!2002 Z28 Camaro A4

Interesting..... I thought (take this worth a grain of salt as I dont know jack about the LTx's, wait for joel to chime in) that there may have been an odd ball year or a certain application in which the lt4 had 2 bolt mains. Could be totally wrong, trying to picture a post I read of Joels about forever and a half ago that did some explaining on 2 vs 4 bolt main blocks.1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

Ok so I mocked my headers up today. They seem to fit well, only issues: be prepared to use a open end wrench for all the bolts. The bolts sit very tight to the primary's. On my passenger side, the second bolt in from the front wouldn't go in, the primary bent it too soon/sharp.
Drivers side oil filter:

Drivers side k member from rear:

Drivers side, bolt closest to firewall:

Passenger side second bolt in from front:

Looks like a fabbed y pipe would be a pain

Also, these are stock bolts. I'm unsure what I'll end up going with. I didn't have the gaskets installed and the motor is out so that's why the steering shaft isn't hooked up (obviously)
Sorry for the crap cell pics.2002 Z28 Camaro A4

With some header bolts you should have less problems. And will look better. Other wise the motor looks nice, I like the intake.

I think the only issue will be the oil filter, it's going to suck having oil drop on my headers and stinking it up for the next few miles. The reason I settled with the obx "eBay" headers is I could fix any clearance issues since I am installing them with the motor out.Originally posted by sman View PostWOW, that seems like a terrible design.....
Pacesetter painted ones last less than a few months before they start to rust. The coated ones still rust and were more expensive than these.

If it is a 96 LT4 you would have a crank position sensor on bottom left of timing cover. The engine # is on the drivers side rear of engine just above the oil filter. Vin # of car position 8 tells if it is a v6=S or K, P=5.7 v8. Position 10 is Year built Q = 93, R=94,Originally posted by mcalus View PostSo a couple of things I have figured kinda odd about this car...

Could it have a 96 block with 93 internals/covers bolt ons etc?Originally posted by Plum Nuts View PostIf it is a 96 LT4 you would have a crank position sensor on bottom left of timing cover. A little bit of polishing goes a long way and makes a mess lol...
I'm going to sand the drivers side with, 800, 1200, 2000 and see if it shines up easier and better. Any ways to getting the black built up compound off?

Usually a micrfiber will take it right off.
If not, a small amount of brake clean sprayed onto paper towel works too.
I like to finish with some Mother's Aluminum & Mag polish too.sigpic

It could be a 96 block, but that's definitely a 93 intake.- Brian Meissen
