  • I never looked at the stock axle closely. My S60 has 2" 1/2" in it. I could easily put 3" in.

I found for the front 3 1/2" studs =/ Not sure if I want that long or not.

From a land far far away!!!

                  So, my new wheel project.

I originally was going to get these...

                  http://ls1tech.com/forums/parts-clas...er-coated.html

Everything was done, powdercoated, widened, 17's so tires are still relatively cheap.

I got talking to the guy, he is asking $700 shipped, okay, I offer $650 shipped. Being an honest seller, he had someone else interested and wanted to give them a few days. Which is okay I suppose since I wanted to think things over...

If you noticed, he added a 1/2" spacer because he didn't want to bfh his inner fender wells, understandable. BUT, he rolled his fenders, biggest thing I was PISSED that I totally forgot to do before I painted the car. If you have rolled quarter lips before, you know its pretty hard to not crack the paint or dent the quarter panel. So doing it now is out of the question.

Well, I researched a bit and found out (new to me) that 10 spokes are 50mm offset. My old ZR1s were 50mm offset as well. I didn't have to roll my fenders or bfh my inner wheel wells to make clearance to fit them. So, in theory I shouldn't have to do anything to my quarters or inner fender wells to make the 10 spokes fit. So.... since my girlfriends dad is best friends with the owner of weldcraft, I am hoping to get a deal on widening a set of 10 spokes, and now I wont have to use the 1/2 inch spacer. Another reason I didn't want to use the spacer is because of having to swap out the wheel studs for longer ones.

So, I swung out to Seans today to pick up his 10 spokes he has had laying around for a bit.

Sean was telling me that Weldcraft is WAY backed up right now and won't even take in any work. Ill have to see if my girlfriends dad can get in contact with him. In the mean time, ill probably think of what color I want to go with these. I was thinking of a dark silver/primer look to them (a bit darker than stock) Or go black or a dark charcoal and have Weldcraft mill down the lip after they get powdercaoted.

Why do these to stock wheels? Not sure really, I have always loved 10 spokes, I think they are a great looking wheel. Also its something different. Not your every day thing.

                  • It'l look good. Kinda bummed you bought them, lol. I was hoping they'd still be around in a few weeks and id pick them up for a set of DD wheels that didnt need to be cleaned every time I drove the car.

                    • +1 for the 10 spokes. I'm sure they'll end up looking great when you're done. I would try something out of the box on color, ie: magnesium, dark gold, ppm, etc. Looking forward to see what you end up doing.

Doing a bronze type of color has crossed my mind. I'd have to see a photoshop of it before I did it though.

                            • Ive loved ten spokes since I seen them on Joels car.

Its the only wheel thats camaro specific and there are very few aftermarket copies of.

Id go with a dark gunmetal with high metallic.
