  • wow that exhuast looks great! was that the one a member was selling on here? looks familiar. As for the water pump problem I have always used teflon tape around the bolts, just ensures a good seal. I am not a expert on your engine set up but I think some of the bolts do got through the water jackets but not sure. Can you narrow the leak down some without tearing it down like pin point where around the pump is leaking?

    • Yea he had it for sale on here.

      All I can see is that its leaking from behind the pump on the passenger side. Thats all you can see, not much room in these engine bays.

      • i bought some stuff that is meant for head bolts from murray's that is for the bolts that run through water pathways. i forget what it's called but the packaging looks similar to loctite and i think it was in the same area. tom might still have the packaging or the tube and he could get the exact name of it for you. but i would feel more comfortable using this stuff than tape that could come off or break down and go through the cooling system.

        • they make liquid teflon, I use it on my rocker bolts I would assume that you could use it just fine. I haven't ever used anything on mine but then again it may be those gaskets for all I know.

                    • Normally the saying goes "2 steps forward, 1 step back", not tonight, tonight it was more like "0 forward, and 2 back". FML. We've pretty much determined the ps pump is bad. Tried everything, works fine in the air but as soon as theres a load on it its impossible to turn the wheel, we assumed air in the system but since the pump isnt making any noise and we tried bleeding air out for over an HOUR, im going to spring for a new pump. So I go to pull this one off, and you cant get it off without taking the pulley off, damn. The belt is already off, the lines unhooked an the system drained. That was backwards step number 1.

                      So I decided since I had help id re bleed the brakes, I did it by myself and just kept getting air last weekend and when I put the car in drive with the brake pedal to the floor, the car was pushing through the brakes, at idle.....The only stopping power I had was the e brake. So I start with the rear passenger, put the socket on the screw, and instantly the screw breaks off in the caliper, tried everything getting it out, going to get a new caliper tomorrow, that was backwards step number 2. I got pissed and left.

                      I hate cars......

                          • Man! I feel and understand your pain, you did the right thing be leaving. B and I have had those days, trust me everyone working on cars has. Hang in there today will be better. Did you use teflon tape on brake connections some say you should. We didn't so we may be doing step backward soon. My step back will be today or tomorrow, I have to pull the front struts/shock out and take them apart. Forgot pad at the bottom of spring. SH#@, Damn, f*&^.

                            • Well I bit the bullet and ordered a new p/s pump and caliper this morning. They will both be ready tomorrow. Going to work on the waterpump tonight after work. Then all I need is to get a lid and its off to have the exhaust done.
