Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I don't recommend fel pro on ls1's. I think the factory stuff is the best. just had to change an felpro oil pan gasket cause it was leaking. Torqued to fact spec and it still split in two places
Spencer, I'm sure you bleed the P/S unit didn't you? the book tells you to turn to end one way then the other to get air out. The rack on the 94 has only 2 fitting they are both different size so can't cross them. The power hose from pump is metal end flair nuts the return on this car was from rack to P/S resorvoir with rubber end and pipe clamp. Help you to Identify them. Sounds like air lock in rack.

Running the ls1 accessories Jeff, and its not power steering that has to be removed put the alt. but looking at it again, im an idiot, when I was looking at it I had a deep well socket, but I suppose I could use a short well or a wrench couldnt I? Haha. The fluid is topped off, and I raised the front and moved the wheel side to side while it was running to get the air out and no dice. Kinda confused. Maybe ill try switching the lines. Anyone know which is feed and return on the rack top vs bottom? Larry M. on the rack side the fittings are the same IIRC just on the pump side there different. I think I may have them swapped there, and I did what you sujjested bleeding wise with no avail.
Good to know larry, ill pick up some new ones from the dealer tomorrow. I guess Ill pull it myself, doesnt look to bad now that I see it.
Picking up my polished SLP dual/dual from Andrew tonight on my way home from work. Pictures when I get home!
If the LT1 rack is the same as the LS1 rack then it should be very slightly different. I had a plug that bolted into the top P/S line in the steering rack and went to ACE to get a duplicate plug. I got home and the duplicate plug wouldn't fit the 2nd one but it fit the top one.
Bleeding procedure
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Raise the front wheels off the ground.
3. Turn the steering wheel completely to the left.
4. Fill the fluid reservoir to the Full Cold level (1).
Leave the reservoir cap off.
5. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock at least 20 times.
6. Have an assistant check the following conditions while turning the steering wheel:
• The power steering fluid level
• The power steering fluid for bubbles
7. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock at least 40 times if the power steering system has either of the following components:
• A long power steering return line
• A power steering fluid cooler
8. Check the fluid constantly while turning the wheel.
9. Trapped air may cause the power steering fluid to overflow. Thoroughly clean up any spilled fluid.
10. Maintain the fluid level at the Full Cold mark (1).
11. The fluid must be free of bubbles.
If bubbles exist, check the connections again and repair as necessary. Repeat steps 5, 6 and 7 for turning the steering wheel while checking the power steering fluid.
12. Start the engine.
13. Maintain the power steering fluid level while the engine idles.
14. Reinstall the cap.
15. Return the wheels to the center.
16. Lower the front wheels to the ground.
17. Keep the engine running for two minutes.
18. Turn the steering wheel in both directions.
19. If all the following conditions exist, the procedure is complete:
20. If any of the following conditions do not exist, proceed to Special Conditions For Bleeding:
• The system has smooth power assist
• The system has noiseless operation
• The power steering fluid is filled to the proper level
• There are no system leaks
• The power steering fluid is not discolored and is free of bubbles and foam
Special Conditions For Bleeding
If the power steering fluid is discolored or there is foam or bubbles, proceed with the following instructions:
Discolored, Foam or Bubbles in the Power Steering Fluid
1. Turn OFF the ignition.
Wait two minutes.
2. Recheck the hose connections.
3. Start the engine.
4. Maintain the power steering fluid level with the engine idling (1).
5. Install the cap.
6. Return the wheels to center.
7. Lower the front wheels to the ground.
8. Keep the engine running for two minutes.
9. Turn the steering wheel in both directions.
10. If the condition continues, check and repair or replace the following:
• The return hose clamps and O-rings
• The pressure hose O-rings
• The steering gear cylinder line O-rings
11. Fill the power steering system.
12. Repeat the bleeding procedure.
Nope, no cooler here. Its weird, the fluid I put it is a clear blueish color. And now after trying to use it its a yellow orange color, not at all transparent. The wheel turns really hard when on the ground but fine in the air. Guess Ill jack it up and go lock to lock another 100 times. The fluid never drops and has yet to leak.
Larry nothing on the bolts, I heard that was bad. Should I take them out one by one and coat them with that?
Id really like to figure the water pump thing out, so if anyone has any ideas like putting something on the bolts hollar. Larry that makes perfect sence, some of them go through water passages in the pump right, so let me know if I should have done that.
Still clueless on the damn power steering issue, very frustrated.....
Well heres the exhaust pictures I promised! Andrew this thing looks great, thanks a million!
