Truck shift shaft and fbody shift cable bracket can cause the cable to bind.
If you find the fbody shift lever, buy it if the price isn't too high. It's a hot item

One more thing. Anyone have motor mounts? I may need to get some measurements for locating the engine. Some pics of what the different adapters styles look like? I was thinking of making adapter plates that bolt to the engine and the old school mounts would bolt to the plates. There is a shitpot full of info out there , but it takes forever to sift through all of it. And then theres 5 ways to do everything and anything. wish there were more pictures out there

sorry Mike, I found one today! But thank you for the offer, much appreciated. I also found a bunch of the hvac junk I needed for under the hood, most of the under dash and heater controls. Something was living in it at one point... there were bird bones and what looked like pork chop bones laying in it. The worst part was some Dewsh cut the friggin engine harness, so I couldn't get that. I think that might be the hard part. The electrical system on my car is not intact. I need a harness. And I might need the other side also. What comes out on the drivers side ...? is that the body harness? mine is a mess.
I also picked up a set of what looks to be dark grey or charcoal 4th gen firebird seats. in nice shape for round $60.00 Fronts and rears. Thought I heard 4 th gen seats would work. I may not use the blue setup I bought.
This car is a mess. It needs a lot of stuff. I find more wrong every time I go in the garage. I am not sweating it but it is frustrating. I found the spot in front of the pass. door that was in primer was a hack and pack bondo job. So I get to do some more welding. B ut , I did find that I have the rear disk brake rear end in it already. So, I got that going for me......
Picked up a used transmission tonight. Seller said it was rebuilt a while ago, 30,000 miles or so. Im going to gamble and throw it in, see if it works. if not Ill get it rebuilt. got a used starter and alternator today too. Sent the h3 oil pan back to jegs. They might even refund my shipping, need to send a copy of the receipt.
busy friken day.......

That's a mighty nice offer Tyler thank you. I wish you would have posted those prices a week ago though, could have saved me $400.00. Iwill take you up on your offer @ some point, Im sure. Ill take all the help I can get. 'Specially around this car.
I almost forgot! My ls1 intake showed up today too!Last edited by zeeman; March 5th, 2015, 08:03 PM.

just a random thought about this build.
Let me preface this with... I really don't know what my goals are with this car. There I said it, its out in the open! I started out wanting to see if I still had it in me to do internal work/mods on engines. I used to do a bit of wrenching back in my yute. I always do my own maintenance/ repair work. And I have missed it. After I finished the Camaro I felt like I was a little lost without a project in the garage. So I formulated a plan after watching some youtube videos, I needed to build an lsx and dump it in a cheap car to fiddle with. Well then I started looking at S- 10's. and being tall-ish I need an extended cab.... and the flair side bed for.... well...... flair......
I think they make S-10's out of soda crackers .... they just friggin dissolve when they get wet! So I cant find any thing that's worth looking at under 3k. I don't want to go that high for a truck I am most likely going to destroy.
I remember at some point I saw a roller on craigs list. Well, you can guess the rest cant you? Joe sees a shinny car. Oooooohhhhhhhh Prettyyyyyyy...............
So, I don't know how far I am going to take this car. It is going to get repowered. That is a certainty. The interior is going to get fixed up. No doubt about it, gotta be comfortable. Would I like to do a full restoration to this car? Absolutely! It would be fantastic. But then I wouldn't want to take it out and have fun in it, what if something happens or it gets stolen?
So the plan should be to make this a safe, vehicle that performs well but may not have the fit and finish on its exterior that it could have. I don't have to worry about dings and road rash, or even washing it for that matter....
The sad reality is .... I don't know if I can help myself. And that's a problem because it is interfering with the sequence of events in this build. I am very close to being at a point that I can actually start putting some things together. I have to start mocking things up but at what point does the mock up just become an installation?\
I don't know, I just have to figure out what the end goal is. I know I would like to do it all, but is that going to give me the car I was trying to build in the first place? I dunno.
