  • Another 3rd gen build

If someone would have told me a year ago I would be down here in the mifbody basement starting a build thread for a 3rd gen I wouldn't have believed it. But....here I am!
I am currently waiting for the delivery of a somewhat rough 86 T/A. Silver on silver/gray. It has a black hood, fender and door. The hood is on it but not bolted on, the fender and door will be put on by myself. Its in fair shape, just a little surface rust underneath it. None I could see on the body. This car had seen duty as a strip car and the former owner pulled all the hvac out. So I am on the hunt for that stuff.
The interior is rough, Camaro seats in front , some rotten seats in the back. Leaky Ttops have destroyed the headliner and the carpet is sun bleached and smelly. I really hope the floor boards are good.
I picked up some two tone blue seats, head liner, door panels, and carpet today. From a local guy with one of the cleanest 3rd gen I have ever seen. I don't know if I will be keeping this stuff in the car but we will see.
No motor or trans came with the car, as I have been itching to LS something since my z28 is finished or close to it, this was perfect for me. So the plan is 5.3 litre truck motor that I found today. I have a set of 4.8 pistons to bump up the compression ratio. I am considering a ls7 cam,I will be home porting some heads for this motor.Probably not the heads on this motor, These are 706's (yuk) headers and duel exhaust. This will be bolted to a 4l60 trans. I cant wait to get my hands dirty!!

I will be picking brains randomly here , especially when it come time to integrate the dash to the ls system.
So God help me here I go again!

Damnit the a pillar has a rust hole in it, I missed it in the inspection. Little bit of bubbling around the windshield, doors are kinda crunchy on the bottoms. So I get to do some welding and figure out how to remove all the trim pieces. awesome!

The hvac stuff shouldn't be to hard, 78% of these cars are in the junkyard lol. You might not like them now, but once you put the time into it you will. They are nice cars when they are done right!

I just happen to have an extra one, however it does have two holes center appropriately for tweeters, but no big cracks.
