That sux they don't match. Was it a mixing error?

Nope mixing was right.
We counted out coats every time, because with the candy red, the more coats you put on the darker it gets.
Had to be the temp or the humidity in the air. Or a combination of both.
Painted the body one week then the ground effects the next week.

One good thing is it will have a good base!
I just wanted it so bad this year. I love seeing people take a double take when they see you going down the road. I love car shows, I'll stay up all night cleaning and preping for a car show....I'm just into that.
One good comment makes it worth while to me.
I'm just bummed....I miss driving it.

I have had my bird "under construction" for the last couple months and as the cold weather sneaks in it hurts to think about not driving it this year. Hopefully you have better luck and get her on the road this year. Thanks for posting all the pics, its more fun to watch someone else's project! No stress or frustration that way.

Just a thought you could always paint the ground effects silver and then the problem goes away.

Can you not blend with Candy Apple? I had my car's hood, spoiler, and ground effects painted. They were able to blend all of the pieces so they were the same color and didn't have to paint the whole car. With how different Candy apple works I dunno how well that'd work, but Gary's post reminded me of it.

no you cant really blend a candy color into another...

but let me take a guess seeing as i havnt really read this whole thread completely that they were painted on two seperate days and like us aid the temp and humidity were deffinitly different..

You hit the nail on the head Sean.
They were painted a week apart.

And no you cant blend candy, the more coats you put on the darker it gets. Plus its 1st based in Silver metallic.

Least its all got a good base. Put the ground effects on and paint the hole car again, as a whole this time. Minus the mirrors though.

sorry to hear that man, but just wait... your right the first time you take it out it will be worth it. That' s the thing that sucks about the candy colors, there is so much prep and layers to make candy's right and it has to be right on or your gonna see it. This summer i saw a GTO painted in candy apple red and it was incredible. Good luck to you and i hope everything goes well.
