  • Todds 87 Trans Am progress thread

Well, I'm going to be re-painting my car with in the next couple weeks.
I'll try to post as many pics as I can.

1st off, I bought a door popper kit so my handles and locks will be shaved.
I'm taking the side moldings off also (that are on the center of the doors)

I might do somehthing a little different with the paint, but not much at all. Still not sure yet.

I did buy a new fiberglass replacement spoiler, Had to get rid of that heavy rubber one. (weights about 50 pounds!)

So heres at it sits so far:

heres a close up with the spoiler off:

heres a close up of the rust on my car. Thats the worst spot on my whole car!!

I'll keep you posted as I go....I'll try to keep my camera with me at all times LOL!!

Wow -- pretty dusty! Is that from removing the rubber or is your garage just that dusty?

I never covered it over the winter because I was painting it anyway. And my brother in law has his own body shop. So its actually pretty clean. Bondo dust and all can get pretty bad back in the shop.

Looking good, and Rolo get use to it. That's how those jobs always are till you've been there for a few years.

Thats exactly what my GTA looks like at the moment. Yurs is a lot cleaner. Those rubber spoilers are crap, mine basically fell apart when i took it off.

Tuffy hooked me up on Saturday.
They welded in my SFC. Did an awsome job!

Everything looks great under the car!
So now I can start on the rest of the car.

                          The tear down will continue!

Some more progress pics done today.
Took off most of the ground effects, tail lights, mirrors, door moldings, front turn signal lamps, inner door panels, and the Outer door felts are off.
I'm going to replace the upper part of the door panels, only thing is Classic sells them new for $149.99 for the set. Then I need the outer felts too. So I need to buckle down and take a look at what I need to buy so they can be here asap.
