Just to have a new one in there.

I know HV pumps are a no no on these engines.
Considering I've ran an HV pump in 2 different LT1's and never saw lower than 40 psi of oil pressure I would beg to differ.

Aren't volume and pressure completely different? Or are you saying it didn't damage your bearings causing a loss?

High volume is going to flow more oil through the engine thus creating more pressure. In a stock pan application, the pump will suck more oil than the pan can contain at high RPM's "sucking the pan dry". When you have an aftermarket pan like me you don't worry about this. The pressure spring in an oil pump is a calibrated spring that under a certain pressure will bleed off some oil from going through the engine.

Was thinking about pulling mine and having it loosened up some more. Just to tight down low, hard to tune around. Its already a 4200 though......

            What are you running now?

            Sorry for the jack!

              Does your not 60' well?

Mine went high 1.6's last year without even really trying. Trying to go 1.59 this year. Converter flashes to 3800.

              • Not really, never done better than a 1.95 on street tires. There's a set of ET streets in the barn waiting to go on for next year though. Running low 12's on those 1.95 - 2.1 60's though, would be nice to see high 11's next year.

I was getting 1.90's with my shittos and a 2100 stall converter.
I won't be getting a new converter just yet, going to start working on my car first, to make sure I have enough money to finish it in case of unplanned expenses. I also want to see what it runs without one too, to see what the actual gains will be.

Yeah you can't gauge anything off of street tires. I would put a tire on it and see what happens. Heck a 1.6 and a 2.0 feel so completely different it isn't funny.

My 3800 is so tight down low Phil didn't believe me that it had a converter from listening to me pull it up his driveway into the garage.

lol phil asked me how i drove mine so much cause it was so loose. for the longest time we though it had a trans issue. mine was supposed to be 3800-4000. it wont flash that high but it woouldnt couple down track very well. 1800-2000 slip at the finish line

Ya, when I had my 2400 and 3600 phil didnt even think my car had a converter in it. It wasnt until he drove it with the 4200 that he noticed, which if I remember right, he seemed to like.

Does your converter actually flash to 4200? I think I remember Mike saying he built me the same converter as the one you had. I'm down about 80 horsepower on you so it would stall lower for me.
