Ya piston is definitely toast. The one head was damaged pretty good and had a small junk of the piston embedded into it. Who ever put the motor together sure did not know what they where doing.

Just got a call, new engine was dropped off. He said it looks pretty good. The reason he said about the intake was because he's going to take it off to get it into the engine bay easier. Looking forward to driving it again.

Figured I'd give an update on this for anyone wondering. Car is still sitting there with no engine..... I'm giving him 1 more week, and after talking to Ron (Icepick) it will be towed to Ron's house and we're gonna put it in. I kinda prefer this method because it's going to be a great learning experience for me, but at the same time I want my Formula back!

It'd be great if you can do it yourself, Mark - you'll learn a CRAP TON about cars and engines. I'm really thankful for being able to do my LT1 build... not only was it a great father son project but I learned a ton.

Yeah Brian that's a huge advantage to it, but the car I'm driving is my mother in laws and she has it for sale. They might have another car for me to use, but I'd rather drive my own car.

Quick update. He called and said he wants to replace the opti since it had the original one still and the motor has 140k miles on it. He's going to finish putting the motor together tomorrow and then he's gonna start putting it in. I told him to call me because I want to help. He said on Wednesday he wants to start putting the engine in.

I would highly recomend replacing it only with a genuine GM opti unit. Dont fall for the cheap ones out there. Eric L
