Where did you stop in at? My buddy's grandparents own a shop on monroe st just past downtown. He has a thirdgen lol

I love stopping into shops with little parts that I can't find or when shipping is just as much as the part itself. I needed a valve body gasket (I forget why) for my 4l60e so I stopped by a local shop and they gave me a gasket kit for the whole trans...free. "Here you go, just tell your friends about us. Have a nice day!"

so this morning before work I stopped into a transmission shop to see if they could order me a new shift selector shaft and I brought my old one in for comparison.. they had one laying around and just gave it to me for free! score! so now I am ordering a few more things for the transmission (like a new seal for the shaft, new pan gasket, new filter) and going to hopefully have it put back in this week/end!

So i pulled the 700r4 today.. The transmission has seen better days for sure... Dont know if I have ever seen so much black rtv used on something before. Looks like the pan leaked so the guy used in generously on the pan.. And dipstick tube.. Its a mess. Looks like the torque converter is aftermarket though..
My shift selector shaft on my other trans is busted so I'm going to try and find a new one to swap in and replace the seal while I'm at it. After that ill be ready to swap in and finally take it for a real drive

I had chosen LT Parchment or LT Neutral on the same color chart. I can't remember exactly which one, but I felt one of those was a better match than the sandstone.

The hard part in the comparison is that you're comparing it to an old, faded, dingy piece. I'll have to look at what color I picked out. I don't think it was either of those.

So I decided to see how well the trim dye I bought matches up with the trim pieces from the car. So I took one of the will pieces (its cracked so needs replaced anyways) and sprayed on some of my dye.. And its too light..
I took a leap of faith when getting the dye I picked up.. It seems like a couple people used the color "sandstone" for the plastic dye and said it was close but too dark. So I decided to give phantom white a try.. It looked really good on the swatch and sandstone still looked too dark..
Well here's my results.. Do you think sandstone is still going to be my best bet?

small update.
I received the new carpet. its a bit darker than I thought it was going to be.. but I think will still look really good. currently the carpet is in my basement and will look even darker in pics.. so you'll have to wait on those for the moment. I received the SEM stuff so I think some of the trim is going to get a good scrubbing/cleaning and dyed here soon! woohoo!
Still haven't pulled the trans yet.. soon.. very soon..
as for tonight! green beer!

Why do people complain about the heater core and all the work involved? I think I had mine out in 20 lol

that's what I was saying above.. its not even hooked up.. the hose lines for it are gone so its just chilling.. not being used at all currently so no worries of it leakingOriginally posted by hoogiesngrinderz View PostI'd replace it while you have easy access, aren't they about $40? Cheap insurance...have a heater core spring a leak is NOT fun.
