I'd replace it while you have easy access, aren't they about $40? Cheap insurance...have a heater core spring a leak is NOT fun.
-
So I am placing my order to get my interior stuff put together..
-front/back carpet set
-SEM primer/dye (still figuring out which color I need to order)
-POR-15 - small can to take care of a few small floor board rust spots under the carpet
also picking up a new alternator and power steering pump (both of which are bad) power steering pump leaks something terrible when new fluid is put in and the alternator was the cause of my electrical draining issue.
should be swapping the transmission soon too! I'll be having a lot of updates when work actually starts happening!
side note.. I'm assuming my heater core is bad since its not hooked up, do you guys recommend me replacing it now since the interior is already apart or should I wait to replace it when I start digging into all the wiring for my LSx swap?

lol no point in making the car stop better if it never moves [emoji14]

But they will be cheap! Honestly they were the best upgrade I've made to my IROC, but now I've gone to huge brakes

So I think for right now since spring is coming soon, that I am going to stop focusing so much on the LSx swap and start working on just getting the car driveable for this summer. I'll be ordering my carpet here soon so I can at least attempt to put the interior together!

Good lucking finding a set of 243/799 heads for under $400

So I think the plan for the engine is currently going to be the following.. unless I can get a steal of a deal for 243/799 heads soon
- Cleaned, Rebuilt 862 Heads with a valve job and upgraded springs (what recommendation on springs do you guys have? do I need a spring kit?)
- Stock Rocker arms
- Upgraded pushrods (chromemoly?)
- ARP head bolts
- New headgaskets (stock thickness?)
- Engine will be cleaned up, either a honing or boring/honing
- Flat top pistons (are the stock pistons forged or hypereutectic? what should I upgrade/swap to?)
- Piston rings? preference?
- Should I replace crank/cam bearings?
- ARP rod bolts
- TSP 224r Camshaft
- LS1 intake\injectors\rails\throttle body (figured I could upgrade these later, for now just to get it on the road)
- Racing Innovations Long tube headers
- what other gaskets will I need? timing chain? oil pan? let me know what your thoughts are?
I am hoping to be at about 10:1 - 10.5:1 compression ratio I think
thoughts?
