  • Well after about a week straight of dicking around with it the clutch is finally good to go. Installed a tick master and I was still having issues getting into some gears at idle. Found that my brake booster was bad so I pulled that and figured I would trouble shoot the clutch while I wait on parts. Found my issue right there, a nice big bubble in the master reservoir. Since I am not using the Tick line when I installed it I lost too much fluid while hooking it up. Had to connect my slave line to the master before installing in the car and then spent about a half hour bleeding it, but it works now. 5th is pretty crunchy to get into and 3rd and 4th feel quite notchy, but that's due more to existing damage to the trans. Still, everything is working well enough that I should be able to beat the piss out of second gear for a full season before a full rebuild in the winter.

Removing the brake booster made this whole thing about 3000% easier. Took me about 15 minutes to remove it but it was completely worth it.

      • My vacuum bleeder was the best purchase for that job. I pull vacuum through the reservoir and it works awesome.

        • Yeah I've been using a motive power bleeder but I thought about picking up a mitivac or something similar. The power bleeder does great work for the rest of the system, but doesn't do jack shit for the master cylinders.

          • Two and a half years to the day, it made its first trip around the block. This clutch does not want to be slipped although it will do it. Really wants to be dumped at 3k.

            • Last weekend I had the hydraulic release bearing fail while on a test drive. Turns out the install depth was out of spec which was something I should have checked but didn't because I was in a rush. This overextending the release bearing piston which tore up the seal, allowing fluid to pour out the bottom of the bellhousing. I have a new seal on the way and a 0.100" longer piston as well to fix the installed depth issue. The 10" tall lexan spoiler should also be arriving this week.

The first event was supposed to be this weekend with the first national event next weekend. I'll be running the BMW instead, which gives me until the beginning of June to finish working on the car and get some test and tune time in.

                  • How much do those run? If you don't mind me asking. Are they able to be laid down flat if you wanted to have less down force for some straight line fun?

Mine was about $450 shipped. I thought about making my own but the lexan itself was going to be $200 so it didn't make sense to waste my time on it. It is adjustable for angle and from pictures it looks like it should come off pretty easily.

                        • Got the spoiler in today. Looks like it is actually 4ft wide so you could get a sheet of lexan for well under $100. You would still have to order all of the parts and mock it all up. This thing, just like everything from Blaine, is an A+ part and very well thought out.

I've wondered this too. My car used to have some kind of flares on the front and back, but i've never been able to find what they were. There are parks on the paint around all the wheel arches so i can tell there was definitely something there, for a while.

That spoiler looks SICK!!!! I can't wait to see it on the car!

                              • Car doesn't even run right now, but I'm scheduled to be beating the ever living crap out of it on Saturday and Sunday. Format will have it in 3 sessions, each hotlapping 4 drag style launches into an autocross course. Should be interesting.
