Good choice. I'm a big fan of gold centers on the right wheel/car.

They look really good! Would look even better mounted up with some 275's

Might as well go here since this is the interim autocross car...

I think Bimmerworld got tired of me asking about discounts and finally decided to offer me $100 off each wheel just to get me to shut up and place an order. I had to buy two stock width and offset front wheels to get the car legal to avoid any future issues. 19lbs each vs the stock boat anchors at 24lbs and only $199 per wheel after the discount. Not the best looking and they don't match the rears but I've stopped caring.

Yep. This is what I'm running on the rear and they were $330 each. 18x9.5 and 19.1lbs

I'm going full enginerd with this car. I found an used Race Technology DL1 datalogger that I'm going to pick up. It's the MK1 version but it still has a 5Hz GPS and 2g accelerometers for logging what the car is doing. I've used one in a friends car and it really does make it incredibly easy to find where you are losing time.

They offer a CAN converter for the BMW which would allow me to pull individual wheel speeds, steering angle, brake pressure, throttle position, and RPM and log them at 100Hz. If I was doing track days I would probably want the 1000Hz analog capability of their newer units, but for parking lot warrior stuff they should be fine. I do want to see if there is an extra 20Hz GPS puck at work that I can have.

                      • Yep, Blainefab is building them. Originally the target date was February but they are still being fabricated. Instead of just posting up a boring ETA change he decided to post up those pics.

I'm not surprised. I ordered a roll bar from him two years ago. He told me it would be a few weeks until he got to it. After three months I had him refund my money.

Luckily my engine is still sitting on the floor in the garage so I honestly couldn't care less about how long it takes. I think all of the other people who got in on the batch are in the same boat. Good thing to know though if I ever want something quick, make sure to order it early in the offseason.

                              • It took a long time for it to click for me. Basically there is a spring preloading it and pulling the forward end up towards the chassis. On real tires, like slicks and not just grippy street tires, the braking forces will overcome the preload and it will rotate down off the chassis a small amount. There is a hoop to prevent it from ever coming down too far but you shouldn't ever hit it anyway. Up top there is another collapsible link (basically looks like a shock absorber) so when the torque arm decouples, it is effectively a 3 link rear end.
