Should have your dad bring it this year fred.

For what its worth, id run a chrome one with the 326-2 sticker on it.
You are correct Spencer! Brenna and I were holding some visquine over it as it takes too long to take the boot off and raise the convertible top back up, all the while Tom was sitting high-n-dry in his TA with Phoenix

Lets do some back tracking here...

    Bakers of Milford
2011... my TA and Dad's Camaro
    2010... Dad's Camaro
    2009... Dad's Camaro (1st place 5th gen Camaro)

    Kensington Park
    2008... Mom's Firebird (3rd place 1st gen Firebird)
    2007... Mom's Firebird

And yes after seeing the polished up chrome valve covers on the freshly painted engine, a chrome air cleaner is the only way to finish this off. I think the 326-2 emblem would really set it off too.

      • Wow, Fred! I honestly got goosebumps seeing the engine all back together and painted. There's definitely not enough 1st gen love on this site, and I'm damn glad your mom's car is filling that void!

Thanks! Maybe we can go check it out tomorrow night if you want.

Install party will likely be in a few weeks.

                Progress:

-Dropped off transmission for full rebuild today (will be done Tuesday)
-Dropped off radiator for flush and pressure check (will be done tomorrow)

Still a lot of things to do in the engine bay as far as cleaning and painting goes. Then still need to address what in the suspension needs to be replaced. So far, looks like springs and a-arm bushings. The shocks were replaced last year.

Also need to order all new hoses, belts, fuel lines for the carb, hood insulation, etc etc etc..........

Probably going to pick up a refurb'd alternator to keep the look clean too

                          • Well, I suppose it's time for an update on this

Started off with calling NPD (great guys to work with) with a sizable parts list. They had almost everything I wanted and when I asked how long before I could pick everything up, they said 15 minutes! So yesterday I took the TA down to their warehouse in Canton and loaded her up with goodies. Details on these later, but basically all new hoses, lines, hood insulation, water pump, etc.

Then we started to degrease the engine bay with GUNK spray, foam and gel. After 5 cans and a lot of scrubbing, it turned put pretty nice. The cradle, suspension and frame rails will be painted with POR-15. The firewall and fender wells have been scuffed and will be hit with some high grade rattle can flat black. We're letting it dry out over night after the final rinse and will hit it with Metal Ready tomorrow morning before painting.

Some in progress pics, don't have any of how it sits now.
