    • Nope, the stamping will be in front of the passenger side cylinder head. There is a machined flat on the deck that extends beyond the head, it's right above where the water pump bolts up

        • No, the info he is asking about is on the deck of the block(where the cylinder head mounts). It protrudes at the front a .5. The numbers are stamped into the block, not cast. It will contain numbers and letters.(unless the block was decked)

          • I fail at that I didbt notice any other numbers but I'll check again later today.

              • Don't take these as definitive numbers, they are just calculated estimates with losses (water pump, exhaust, etc).

                  • I think that would put you in the 290 range at the rear. Again, just an estimate based off estimates

Look into what those heads are really going to cost. Get them magnafluxed! Those heads are said to be notorious for cracking.

mhm you have a lot of information that I seem not to have heard or have been told. I have been told nearly the opposite about these heads, I've been told they are rather good for what I am looking to do.

The later years especially. You never told me the casting number so I'm just warning you what may pop up.

I've learned all the 60/70's tech from my father, who used to go through Bel Airs, Vettes, and Chevelles like people do today with a Grand Am or Taurus
