Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Started looking more in depth at the wheels that I bought off of Michael. Whats the best stripper or product to use to strip the clear coat? I am hoping that stripping the clear will help clean these wheels up.

Aircraft stripper
Thinner works as well but it is more time consuming.
Did you ever remove the charcoal canister? I still need those bolts and the mounting hardware.
Oh, and I'll mail out those hubcentric spacers on Friday, completely slipped my mind.
Never did remove it yet, I have not found a good diagram or anything showing what I can all take out and the best way to keep it "safe" if you know of a link let me know and I will get on that!
Wanna sell those spacers your not using too? Let me know what you'd want for them and they can all go in the same box,
remove canister put fuel filter on open line, vented gas cap. all done not that hard. you can trim the line down too so its not in the engine bay anymore.

There appears to be a lot more to it then that from what I am reading on TGO. I also have the Cruise Control box located in the same spot, I think... Looking into that as well, actually didnt know the car had cruise control being a 5 speed. Probably going to be removing that too.
its not, arent you swiching to carb also? on the tbi unit plug the vacuum lines that attach it to the throttle body so you dont have a vacuum leak. you can either cap it off on the engine bay line and a vented gas cap or a filter on the line and a closed gas cap. you could probably do both as well. all the canister does is take all the fumes and trap them in there and the charcoal dissapates the smell more or less, its all emissions stuff.
yes on tgo theres people saying alot of different things, i did it with no issues car ran exactly the same as it did with it on. some people have diff experiences with it though such as gas coming out of the line. that would be a case where you cap it off and use a vented gas cap, get my drift?

Yes I totally get it and understand I am just researching a little more, like I said it appears my cruise control is there too, so I want to be able to clean it all up. No point in removing the canister and having this other ugly thing there. No plans on going to carb this season Tyler. Motor build, rebuild or whatever its going to be will be next winter, I just want to drive this damn thing this summer and that means I have to get it painted!
Micheal when you mail out those parts I'll have your address and I will mail you back the bolts you need. Just the bolts and brackets? I will take this all eventually just have to get out in the garage. I already have enough of a wiring mess under there that I havent disconnected them yet.
im just saying its alot easier than people think of it, but i understand you want two kill two bird with one stone. if you wanted to get tricky im assuming you could put two t-fittings on that line so it would be looped into itself, that way the vapors would be going back into the gas tank so they can be reused later on.

yeah I was thinking about doing something like that, the more and more I dig into this engine I see how the previous owner just capped and blocked a lot of things off kinda half way. Shoot I have found so many un-used wires and connectors its not even funny. Slowly tracing them back and un pinning them from the harness. Also found many vacuum lines that are already blocked off... My main goal is to get "this" engine running really well, and making it look a lot better with more room for everything.
thats a good goal, yeah i figured with your setup there were alot of things that werent there anymore when i saw it. good that your actually depinning it instead of cutting it off. going the extra step there.
