Ground clearance is well pretty bad as you can see since the car is so low but I put some miles on it today and it wasn't terrible. It is loud tho.

Exhaust is on, had to wipe my phone so I lost the pictures but I will take some good ones next time out in the garage. Not nearly as loud as I was thinking it would have been but I only drove it home from the exhaust shop, so time will tell. But I did get the long tubes installed (first and only time, was a PITA) and went into a a xpipe with turn downs before the axle. Brian and I installed the long tubes and then drove it over to TLC in royal oak and Mark there did a tremendous job with the rest of it. He could have gotten a little fancier with it but I didnt want to drop a ton of $$ on this.

We will see how it goes!

2.5 is what I went with

Purely going to be building this, only ordered the x pipe and mufflers but I will have to still get some piping and such. Not sure if I can use my existing tips or not. I guess we will find out. But Dougs long tubes into summit x pipe with bullet mufflers.

What size pipes?

Having done 5 million exhaust combos over the years on 4th gens, at the bare minimum don't do turn-downs if you leave it at the axle. Turndowns will give it more of a bass-y sound which is good in a way, but causes a boatload of drone. I would go with 2.5" if at all possible as with bullets it really does make a difference in sound volume and unless you're spraying it I can't see it truly needing any more exhaust than that especially with straight through mufflers. All the way out the back would be my choice, but 2.5" to the axle with no turndowns would be my next choice if that isn't an option. Glad to see you got the x-pipe, it really makes a difference when you're dealing with bullets and care about tone.

I would go out the back - drone would probably be terribad with them turned down.

I am basing this that back in my HS ricer days, I had a Dodge Daytona 3.0L that I basically straightpiped...removed muffler, threw a small resonator on each tailpipe and put chrome turndowns. With the hatch, that thing resonated so badly it was terrible. 17 year old me thought it was cool. 34 year old me would go insane listening to that now.

Anyhow, had the car for sale for the dream cruise had a lot of people ask about it, some interesting trade offers but with all that talk I ripped the signs out of it and beat the crap out of it some more!

Last night ordered my new exhaust for the car. These Dougs long tube headers I have will finally be going on, into a summit x pipe with some bullet mufflers, not sure if I will run turn downs or go tips out the back, suggestions?

Going to drive the car a little longer, still fighting some spitting and sputtering but its runs well. Phase 2 will be coming sometime soon for this engine and trans tho. If I dont buy this other car I've had my ear on.

Out the back, hard to keep a car clean with turndowns always blowing up dust and dirt.

Dj's end about under the rear seat on his '88 (similar setup, just on a Mustang - LTs into an H pipe with bullets). Without the turndowns we got a lot of fumes in the car (E85 so smelled delicious, but still), put turndowns on - no more fumes, but god the drone was awful at freeway speeds (moreso in the back seat, but probably the fronts as well).

If you have the room, I'd run them out back. But if you won't be on the freeway all that often, you'll be fine with turndowns.
