  • New balancer bolt installed and torque'd properly?

Front cover centered? Either with an alignment tool or installing the balancer and then torquing the cover.

    • I assume you have to take off the pulley each time you change the seal. Did you put in a new bolt each time as well?

Not that big of a mistake - it'll be just fine with a new bolt. Just so you know... achieving the actual torque spec is next to impossible. We had 2 guys with a breaker bar on it trying to hit 140* and I think we may have only gotten to ~110* (pretty typical from what I've read)

                • Well Ken came out to my place today and took care of the situation. New balancer, seal, bolt, & belt. Everything seems to be just fine, we did a test drive, the car feels a lot better and there doesn't seem to be an oil leak at all.

Huge props to Ken for manning up to the situation, it was an honest mistake that he took care of for me on his time.

                    • Unfortunately no vids, but I did get to Milan yesterday. The car ran a 12.3 @ 110 with a 1.9 60 foot so it's just not hooking up. We found out that the tires are pretty old and the people with me said I need to do a hell of a longer burnout as well. Live and learn, but I had a really good time and the car is running great otherwise. I ended up winning first round of eliminations at the HS nationals, but went too fast on the second round.

well slick have a used life of about 2 years years some will not agree. a longer burn-out on a older slick can help. either way the way i do my burn-outs is start out in secound gear run the rpms up to about 4-5k rpms then shift to secound, hold your rpms in secound to around 3-3500 rpms till you feel the tires start to push you. I hope you had alot of fun

                        • did you have to pedal the car at all or anything? That mph seems a bit down on power to me, I'm certain that car wants more gear and converter.
                          Doing less with more

I pedaled it off the line because it was spinning but that's it. I don't disagree with you on the gear and converter idea though, just a matter of time before it gets done.
