  • [Project] 01SS - Restored Project underway!

Its going to be sloooow but the 'plan' is to have it running again by next spring!! Car has been apart for 5 looooong years and after ducking a few of life's curve balls (getting hit by a couple, lol), I am starting to collect parts to complete!!

I've got a pretty decent foundation as my black '01 SS M6 has only 16k on the clock. Previous motor was tweaked by Lingenfelter in the form of heads, cam, etc. Car was primarily weekend warrior rolling on 18" Simmons "F" Series 3pc wheels and Eibach Pro's with Bilsteins made it sit nice .

Wanting to change things up a bit, I sold off the big-ticket items in the motor and wheels/tires. Off course I had big plans and intended on replacing everything with bigger, shinier - had a 403 ready BUT SOLD IT TOO ...blah, blah, blah, anyway didn't, couldn't, 5 years later, here we are. No motor, rolling on salad shooters. Nice.

    On to the good stuff....

Addicted to both power and bling I've been stock piling misc parts over the past couple months with a purpose in mind while I pursued and researched how and with what would I replace my 'big-ticket' items with. Some of these parts include:

    UMI K-member
UMI Upper and lower control arms
    Meziere water pump...shiny
    LS7 Fuel Rails...also shiny
    LS7 Fast intake...see a trend?
    CTS-V brakes

Build process has started for the really good stuff...

    RHS 460 by Virginia Speed
18" Fikse Profil 5s (9.5 and 11) in Dark Speed Silver

Prior to the tear down we were members of the WMCC and loved the camaraderie that is all too common in the fbody community. I (we...wife and I) look forward to coming out to play with our fellow fboder's once again soon!!

I will be sure to add project pics as the process rolls along....so please stay tuned. If I finally finish this thing, it should be pretty cool....

Thanks guys...kind of nervous even writing the post as I've done this twice before!! Damn curve balls, lol!! Hoping 3x a charm! Can't wait to see the wheels personally. Was on the fence at first but the guys at Fikse really sold it...

Are they the same color as in the pic? These are the ones you got for a steal? I like em, but will have to see em on the car if this color..

I feel ya, Larry. I've been looking for wheels for 6 months. Did not want a full polish wheel again but something with a 'metal finish'. Powder or paint wasn't going to get me there, but something about this wheel fit the eye and should compliment the rest of the theme.

They were...they're back. Re-lit and moved their manufacturing to Canada, eh! I believe Kodiak Motorsports bought them...

How long do we have to wait to see em mounted?
Wheels will be done in 4-5 weeks... .
Wasn't going to mount them until brakes/suspension up front are done and rear end is installed. Didn't mention it because I haven't decided, but either a 1" narrowed S60 or 9" is going back there. So to answer your question...I have no idea. Because of Fikse's recent sale, I had to order them. I'll probably be staring at the damn things til spring!

THAT 460 is an all the boxes checked, crazy expensive billet internals, sheet metal intake, etc. Same block and displacement, just the run of the mill, "budget" version, lol. Lunati, JE and Callies stuff...PI LS7 heads, 102 FAST intake, NW 102 Tbody, etc. Cam is undefined at the minute.
