Hey Gary!! Long time, huh? Thought about falling off...would have been easier. What a wild couple years we've had. If it hadn't been for a little faith, luck, great family and friends, I would have certainly gone over, lol! Looking forward to brighter days. Wife would not let me sell this damn thing as I wanted to give up "the dream" more than once!!!Originally posted by WMCC Gary View Post

I admit, I'm a little nervous even posting this project given our past luck, but as of right now, pardon the pun

I mentioned I was on the fence in putting an S60 or 9" rear end in the car. The over biased community otherwise known as LS1Tech typically vote 9" without fail. Its my opinion that the majority ride a band-wagon in keeping up the Jones'. Intended use will be the usual street abuse with a VERY RARE trip down the track. Really an insurance policy more than anything.
I've spoke with Midwest Chassis and naturally he recommends his fabbed 9"...pretty nice piece, but wanted to hear from some of you guys on your thoughts, suggestions, experience, etc in what else is out there.sigpic

I've still yet to see the point of the S60, but personally I don't think you can go wrong with a fabbed 9". They are just plain strong and proven. Some guys seem to have issues with the moser housings and others don't but you rarely hear of anyone who is unhappy with a fab 9". The 12 bolt shouldn't even be an option for a stick car. The Moser M9 is supposed to be a very solid piece as well.Doing less with more

I went with a 9inch simply for the fast that they are super easy to work on and they have a huge amount of aftermarket parts for them. There is a reason they are so popular, because they are almost bulit proof when built right. Why srew with something that works so well? S60's are nice but they are big pigs and not as easy to work on. 12 bolts are okay too, but they still suffer from the same design flaws as the 10bolt...they are just a bit bigger so they can handle more power than a 10.Originally posted by LPE 403 View PostI mentioned I was on the fence in putting an S60 or 9" rear end in the car. I bought a 9" for the strength. I read about way too many 12 bolts failing with a manual trans car. I only wanted to do it once (and they cost about the same).
The only thing I would change on my set-up is the 35 spline axles and locker. At the time I didn't know how overkill 35 spline axles were and how they limit you to either a locker or spool. I dont want to shell out the money for new axles so I am dealing with the locker...
