  • Actually sounds fairly similar, maybe a little louder. I only drove it back from the shop, and that's it. I didn't really get on it either. I'll report back later.

    • Finally got some tint! 15% all the way around. It's a little darker than I was planning, but I think it looks sick

I was gonna take more pictures, but it was raining by the time I got home stay tuned!

          • Looks great! I had 15% on my old Trans Am and it was perfect. I had 5% on the hatch and if I had kept it I was planning on doing 35% on the windshield. Never had any trouble with the police either.

            • Snapped a couple extra pics. Still hard to see the tint because of the reflections, though.

              • In other news, what's the best way to remove window switches from the bezel without breaking them?

                • Carefully.

Might need a tiny flatblade screw driver to help pry.

I can usually get it done just by gently prying with my fingers, but I have the 97+ interior.

The switches should be the same. I'll see what I can do.

                      • Thanks to google, I was able to figure out how to get the switches out. Got them in the new bezel and ready to install.

                        • So last night when I was on my way home from getting the car washed and running a couple errands, I was sitting at a stoplight and I started smelling coolant. As I sat at the light, the temp gauge started creeping up. Fortunately, I was only a mile from home. Once I got back, I took a peek under the hood to see coolant spewing everywhere. I don't know if I mentioned it here before, but when I was putting the car back together last fall, I snapped off the smallest hose fitting on the radiator. I JB-welded the fitting back on, and it held...until now. I'll be picking up a new radiator after work today.

                          • So here's how my dad and I spent a good 3 hours yesterday:

Got the new radiator swapped in. We also switched out the EGR block-out plate on the header. It never sealed right, so it was leaking badly. We took the original EGR tube, kinked it off, and put it back on the header. Doesn't leak now.

                              • So...I went to Milan for a test and tune tonight. My first run--first time I ever went down a track--went 13.86 @ 98.something. My second run I over-staged, then the lights triggered before I even had a chance to put the car back into D. So my r/t was something like 7 seconds but the timing tower messed something up and I didn't get a slip for that run. On my third run, about a third of the way down the track I noticed that the car wasn't shifting into 3rd. The revs just kept going up, but I wasn't accelerating. I also noticed that my oil pressure was SERIOUSLY low at idle. It also really didn't want to start when it was already warm. Oil looked a bit low and ATF looked fine, so I let it sit and cool down for a while and added a quart of oil. About an hour later I tried starting it. It started better and the oil pressure looked better, so I thought I'd have another go. Ran down the track, did the same thing. After letting it sit for a half hour or so, I started it up again. Oil pressure was pretty much zero, and it was sputtering and knocking. So...I think after 151k miles, this motor (in its current state) is toast. And I don't think I even have 3k on the trans rebuild, so hopefully that's not screwed up too.
