you should put a shift kit in the transmission with a 2500 stall converter.

just a little update. I got home from school last night, and my new transmission was waiting for me:

check out the ghetto packing job lol:

here's a pic of the (almost)-finished interior:

I also switched out the stock taillights for the tinted ones that are on the '94. I'll try to get better pics as soon as I can.

I like the way the interior is turning out. Looks great, reminds me of my 94 Z28. Eric L

forgot to add one thing: the reason we needed a new transmission.

notice the GAPING hole in the bellhousing. The crack goes all the way around to the other side. I have no idea how it happened, we just found it like that when we dropped the trans before removing the engine.

quick question about the headers: do I need any special gaskets, or will the regular exhaust manifold gaskets from AutoZone work fine?

Just make sure you ask for header gaskets. I got exhaust manifold gaskets and they wouldn't work because the bolt location for the ends are different. There are two bolt holes on the ends of the head - one right up against the port and one an inch away from it. The exhaust manifold used the one an inch away and both my LPP longtubes and my dad's pacesetter longtubes used the hole up against the port.- Brian Meissen

got the exhaust manifolds off yesterday and got the headers in place (that was a pain, let me tell you). Should be getting the trans and torque converter installed today, and we're getting gaskets for the headers tonight so we can install them correctly.

quick question for you guys with longtubes: what did you do about the oxygen sensors? the hole to put them in is way down towards the end, and the stock wires aren't even close to be long enough. Did you just splice wires in, or did you have a special extension piece to go from one plug to the other?

they make extensions for that. I paid like $20-something dollars for them IIRC. worth it imo, alot of people seem to have problems with signal integrity when splicing them.Originally posted by alone_and_insane View Postquick question for you guys with longtubes: what did you do about the oxygen sensors? the hole to put them in is way down towards the end, and the stock wires aren't even close to be long enough.
