I still can't figure out what kind of intake it is. It looks like the K&N FIPK, but it doesn't have the plate that fills the rest of the hole it sticks down through and it doesn't have the K&N logo on it anywhere. What does a stock LT1 intake look like?

they said it looks like a K&N, but like I said, there are a couple things that don't match up.Originally posted by DETROITMUSCLE View Postdidn't someone already mention that is IS a k&n?
I'm too lazy to do vids (dialup=epic fail), pics of the car finally off the jack stands up by next week.Originally posted by nascarnate326 View PostCongrats but where is your vids/pics?
I feel bad I took you from msuracing to fulltime at mifbody.....jk no I dont
Also, msurc is a rather slow forum...not to mention most of them don't know much about f-bodies. If I have questions, this is definitely the quickest place to get answers.
Finally, tuesday I'm going to get exhaust. I've abandoned the true duals--too many compromises and headaches--and am going to do a custom header-back (no cats) setup with quad stainless tips and a Magnaflow muffler.

lots of stuff today. first, I cleaned up the brakes a little bit:
Before:

After:

Pics, by popular demand:

First time it's been off the jackstands in a couple months:

Moving it out of the garage:

Now...the problems. Big ones. First, whenever I shift out of park, the thing backfires like crazy only out of the driver's side header. Also, we seem to have a vacuum leak somewhere, because when I turn the car off, there's an audible hissing that continues for five seconds or so until it dies down. I took the car for a drive for about a mile on the road. I couldn't get over 20 mph (just a guess, because my speedometer doesn't work). Revs would increase, but the thing wouldn't accelerate. I have no power steering. The car doesn't move in reverse. It still rolls when the car is in park. I can't even get the shifter all the way to 1. Other than that, everything's great.

sorry, I'm just really, really disappointed right now, and thus am NOT at all in a good mood.

start with the basics. check your spark plugs, check for arcing spark plug wires when the car is in drive, try disconnecting your oxygen sensors to see if one is sending bad data, clean your MAF, pull the fuel rails and check for leaking injectors when you cycle the ignition.Originally posted by alone_and_insane View Postthanks, but I was hoping for responses that were a little more helpful.

as for the vacuum leak that should really be an easy one to solve, just use your ears to locate the leak.-Joel

well the plugs and wires are all new...none of my problems seem to be engine-related, so I don't think any of your prescribed checks will help. I think my problems are mainly transmission-related. What could be causing problems with that?Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Poststart with the basics. check your spark plugs, check for arcing spark plug wires when the car is in drive, try disconnecting your oxygen sensors to see if one is sending bad data, clean your MAF, pull the fuel rails and check for leaking injectors when you cycle the ignition.

um backfiring could very well be caused by leaky injectors. happened on my car.Originally posted by alone_and_insane View Postwell the plugs and wires are all new...none of my problems seem to be engine-related, so I don't think any of your prescribed checks will help. I also don't have either of the rear O2 sensors hooked up, since I have no exhaust right now. What does that do?
