  • finished the other turn signal...turned out not as dark as the other one, but I'm hoping that you won't be able to tell the difference since they're on opposite sides of the car.

    warning: dirty car is DIRTY

also dropped the car off to get the front Bilsteins and springs installed, and to get an alignment. Pretty much all I have to do yet is drill a hole in my intake elbow so I can put the opti vent hose into it.

    • everything's installed, and I made the 450-mile drive to Dearborn without significant issue...the only thing was that when I came to a stop, I heard sort of a squeaking noise...to my dismay, it was the mystery noise that I dealt with last summer. I thought it was my water pump, since it went out last summer and the noise went away after I replaced it. I'm really frustrated about it now. Also, my newly-lowered car scrapes the exhaust pipes on the speed bumps in my apartment complex. Awesome

      • My brakes need some replacing, so I figured an upgrade is in order. Have any of you guys bought the ebay drilled/slotted rotors?

        • thats why i always paint both housings at the same time. Its pretty much impossible to get the same darkness doing it any other way. good luck with the other issues.

          • Yup with the scraping you'll quickly learn that speed bumps will need to be taken at a 45 or so degree angle Is the squeaking noise like all the time like it's a belt driven accessory?

            • well like I said before, since the drive out here it hasn't showed up again But when it was bothering it was a constant thing, definitely sounded like a pulley or something like that. I know my front brakes are squeaking too, and when I take a hard right turn, I get a real nasty scratching sound in my right-rear. I plan on getting new brakes soonish, so hopefully that will clear up that stuff.

              • so on the way home I stopped by AutoZone to get the car scanned, and here were the results:

P0135 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0140 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0154 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0155 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0160 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 2)
P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction
P1441 EVAP system flow during non-purge condition

I know both of the rear O2 sensors should be throwing codes, because they aren't there. idk why the other O2s are throwing codes too, I hooked them up with extensions when I installed my longtubes. I thought replacing the hose for EGR (which was broken) would take care of that code, but apparently I was mistaken. And the EVAP...I just don't know about that one

                • also, my amp-meter has been registering rather low recently. (as in, barely out of the orange on the low end, sometimes actually in the orange). could that be a sign of a bad alternator? The battery is about 5 years old

                    • so I took the car to O'Reilly's today, and lo and behold, I do have a bad battery, as confirmed by the guy's testing equipment and by the fluid testing (after charging the battery, only one cell was above 50%). So looks like I'm gonna have to pick one up this week.

Also, last semester my friend went to the Army Surplus Store, and he noticed a box of name badges for $.25 apiece, and one with the name "Schultz" happened to be sitting on the top. Today, I put it to good use:

                      • check the egr valve itself, it maybe stuck open or closed, maybe just need to replace it.

                        • also, I need a high beam headlight, so I was wondering, is it worth it to upgrade to non-sealed beam headlights?

                          • Not at all Peter. I had them in my car, and the quality was terrible. Just get a nice set of sealed beams or mod the stock ones yourself

                            • so I got the new battery today, installed it, fired the car up, looked at my voltmeter, and...no difference guess it's time for a new alternator after all
