I know NOTHING about LT1s, but I am surprised that you have to do rockers for a cam that small. That's kind of crazy.

Stock rockers are stamped steel... Kinda garbage in comparison to what you get with ls1s

You don't HAVE to do rockers with this cam, but its the little things that are going to make it a success. They sell just the cam by its self and include information for stock 1.5 rockers.

What I really hate is how many really shitty builds there are with the hotcam. So many people dont get the full cam kit, or even a tune...and wonder why it didnt improve much.

I see. I didn't realize the new rockers were a 1.6 RAR and stock was 1.5 RAR. So I assume there are new springs involved, lifters, trays (do LT1s have trays? lol) etc etc?

I can't stress that enough to label and bag everything like Jim said. Make notes if you have to. Keep everything together too.

I'm sure you know these things but-
Get a new oil pump.
Buy a new oil pump intermediate shaft with a metal collar (reletively cheap)
Get the "pick up tube bracket" that holds on pickup tube to oil pump (jegs)
Find the steel brace that goes on the end of the oil pump drive gear.
New rear main seal
Poly Motor mounts if you don't have then yet.

Nate, I only did the first one and look what happend to me after 3k miles. These parts are inexpensive compared to replaceing a rotating assembly trust me!

the only thing im not sure on is poly vs standard mounts. seems like there are tons of pros and cons for both style.

the other thing is that my headers fit pretty snug at the moment with warn mounts.

I believe the white spring is the same thing as buying a high volume pump? wait for someone to chime in on that. I'm just going to buy a melling(spell?) pump with a standard pickup and a Jegs bolt on sleeve bracket.

not the same thing, just changes the "relief" pressure for the pump... meaning more oil through the engine, less bleedoff.

So if it was you buying a pump what would you do? buy a gm pump and the white spring? Or a melling one?

I bought the melling 155 pump and installed the white spring.

I've heard if you run a high volume pump and a stock pan the pump will suck the pan dry and cause major damage. That's why the white spring is your best bet. Melling also makes a standard volume/ high pressure pump with the white spring already installed.

Another tip: I always take a ton of pics before hand to refer to. Just incase a label falls off or something, sometimes pics can be a big help.

labeling is obvious, as well as pictures. I have a feeling it will be apart for a while so I want to make sure it all goes back together smoothly.

I fully expect something unexpected to come up though. 177k miles has to take its toll on something.
