    • 228/230 .587 112lsa comp cam. builder honed the block, machined the crank, installing some forged mahle pistons and rings. new rod, cam, and main bearings. arp hardware throughout (rods, mains, head). milling my stock ls1 heads and installing new seals and comp cam 918 springs and valve job. balancing rotating assembly or at least checking it. i could save myself 300 bucks going back to stock pistons but then i believe the new pistons will be .10 over and i dont think i can bore it that far out. already .05 out with the mahle pistons. plus if down the road i want to add some spray, im set, right?

            • 98 are tight. 3.908) is about the most for later units. most use 3.903 or 3.905 on ls1/6

              • would the 3.905s have ANY benefit at all over the 3.903s? looks like the guys on tech say the 3.905s are more common.

                • the size change isnt really benificial at all. 3.905 is the most common. but if it cleans up at 3.903 thengo for it.

                    • what kind of numbers should i be putting down now without the ls6 heads? if i mill the 806 ls1 heads with the 228/230 .587 112 comp cam and 3200 stall. i dont want to go longer without my car but wonder if i should just hold off and get some different ls6 heads. can i still reach 400rwhp with what i got?? thanks

                      • To give you an idea, our 99 Z28 has stage 1 LS6 heads (Texas speed I think) and an MS4 cam, it puts down 400 through a 4000 stall.

                        Used to own a Firebird.

                        • I don't think you'll hit 400 with that small of a cam and those heads, I'd say 370ish would be about right with the converter locked.

                          • Not gonna happen. Not with that cam anyway.
