Did you replace your main and rod bearings?

Didn't you pull a cap to look at a bearing? If not, than very wierd cause you didn't do anything to the bottom end. If so, are you sure the bearing seated correctly when you put the cap back on?

          • i'm with jeff. first there is some junk(loctite) or something right behind the dot
then it look like there is something else between the block and gear

            Comment

            • yeah there was some locktite, but behind the gear is only the crank itself. like i said its never been out so it has to be right, at least that part. started disconnecting the wiring harness again, actually done, and will drop it out again and start over. it has to be the crank and/or bearings. like larry said i did pull the first main cap and first rod cap to check the bearings. they were good so i put them back on which i know is a no no, but i did and may have screwed myself.

              • can you take another pic of that spot we are talking about. never seen that before

                • ill try and get another tomorrow. i think i figured it out though. seems like i put the rod cap on backwards and its rubbing the counterweight(?) of the crank. simple fix should consist of flipping engine upside down and reversing the cap, if i didnt damage the bearing. ill be dropping the motor friday night for those of you who would like to join me, lol

                        • I'm leaving Friday to go home to White Lake, which is on the east side...two and a half hours away. I'll probably be back up some time this summer though.

                          • well it seems that you cant just pull the first main cap and re-torque. my problem was that the crank must have sprung causing a bind once i re-torqued it down. once i loosened the rest of the caps, the crank rolled over like it should. so looks like im going to be needing at least new main bearings but i might as well do the rod bearings too, and why not new piston rings. i dont think my car will be out this year

As much as it sucks, I think it's the right decision based on what I saw when we pulled the caps..
