  • thats definitely not right, it looks like that lifter came into contact with the lobe and marred it all up.

        • Hey just as a heads up REMEMBER to peel your coolant crossover tube gaskets off of the old heads and replace them with new ones or reuse them. I forgot them and now I have to pull my intake tomorrow morning. Shouldn't be all too bad though.

                        • i still need some gaskets, head bolts, lifters, pushrods, and spark plugs. not to mention, belts and fluids.

today my c5 coil brackets arrived and i installed and played with those for a while trying to hide the wiring and such.

my comp cam was shipped today so im pretty anxious to get that and install it

anyone have any idea what size pushrods i need? how do i figure that out?

anyways the build is coming together slowly....my goal is to have it at the meet and greet, but that might be pushing it, lol

                          • You'll need an adjustable pushrod checker. If you already have the heads on with the new lifters in then insert the pushrod and bar the motor over until the pushrod is resting on the base circle, install rocker arm and torque to 22ft. lbs. (springs installed too) and adjust adjustable pushrod out until there is no play in the rocker arm. Then you take the rocker arm off, take the adjustable pushrod out, and measure it. Probably be 7.425 but might be 7.4" if you used LS7 lifters.

At least I think that's how you do it.

                            • anyone have an adjustable pushrod checker i can borrow? i will be using new ls7 lifters and the cam is 228/230 on a 587 lift. so will the 7.4s do the job correctly?

                              • Maybe maybe not. I have read that the LS7 lifter cups are just a hair taller though. Mine's at home but I'll be going home in a few weeks, probably easter weekend.
