Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I bought my old 93 Z28 back, now it needs some TLC
I tried something the other day you may want to look in to, duplicolor vynl and fabric paint. They used it on the powerblock to do some seats, and I just did the softtop on my jeep with it, very cool stuff. Can get it at autozone/AAP.
The best option for you would be to buy some cheap ass carpet that is thinner and lighter than stock and make your own. This is what I would like to do over the winter, its especially a good idea after you put a cage/roll bar in the car because then you don't have to hack up the factory stuff.
fabric "paint" leaves the carpet rough feeling and wears out. Carpet dye actually dies the carpet and stains vs covering them up. the downside to carpet die is you have to much darker than original color since you have to change the color of the stain. The carpet looks fine to me. its clean and thats what i was going for.

Little bit of an update. I am going to pull the motor tomorrow, that is if the boss lets me pull it.
Here is the story, I detail cars for First Class Mobile Detailing. Well, my boss and I are real close, (not in a gay way) I have known him for around 7 years and have been working for him for about 6.
We work with each other time to time and tend to but heads a lot on account of not being able to separate friendship and the boss to employee friendship, well anyways, we are currently renting a 6 bay unit. The first bay (starting on the left) has a guys f150 in it. We vacuum his truck and wash it for 20 bucks a week, every week (the guy is a dentist, he is loaded). My boss isn't charging him a THING! Its been stored there for a year now. Total B.S!
The second bay, has the Camaro in it. I am fixing some rust on our van for him and repainting his fender flares on his Mercedes. (he bought the paint, im doing the labor) So basically i can leave it there for the winter in trade for some labor. He agreed.
Third bay has trash, yes, boxes and empty chemical containers just sitting there because everyone is to lazy to take them to the trash.
4th bay is our exterior bay
5h is our interior bay
6th has a bunch of crap from the owners of the building.
Basically my boss has been Bi$ching about my interior pieces laying neatly in between the f150 and the camaro.
IT ISN"T EVEN IN HIS WAY! WHY DOES IT MATTER??!?!?!
He tends to bit*h about it when i am not there. But if I ever confront im about anything he gets all upset! So who knows what he is going to say when he sees an engine in there! He has so much crap laying around it isn't even funny! But my little pile of interior pieces are in his way!
End of RANT! lol
.....
I feel better, but anyways, I am going to ask him if I can pull it and see what he says.
Any suggestions before I start pulling? 2 buddys are going to help. Both pretty knowlegdable with pulling engines but neither have gone through the bottom.

Talked to the boss man. Everything is good to go. So i didn't give him any time to change his mind
Ripped into it. Took off the front bumper, the plastic dampening stuff behind it. (i dont need this correct)?
Pulled off the intake
Took off the top radiator cover
Disconnected all coolant hoses
Removed trans lines
Removed a/c lines
Removed a/c condenser, radiator, trans cooler
Removed all electrical (injectors, maf, random sensors that idk what they go to)
Removed grounds
Removed exhaust (thank you cut off wheel and sawsall)
Removed belt
Removed air
Now for my questions, I dont need air and egr do I? I can just remove them like an ls1? All i will need is the race headers correct? What do I do with the connections since I wont be plugging anything back in?
I plan on removing the A/C, do I just need a smaller belt? Do you guys have a part number?
I am sure I forgot a few questions.
I believe all I have left is the gas lines, brake lines, strut tower bolts, random abs connections and I believe that is it.
Things I came across that I am going to need for sure:
-the plastic "frame" the headlights go in to, not sure what its called
-intake elbow
Didn't really hit any problems, the trans fluid was very dark and dirty!, coolant was very watered down, which i already knew, the pullys are pretty grovved and rusted.

Wow your making good progress. You can remove the AIR and EGR on an LT1. You just need to have them both edited out of your computer or you will get a SES light. I believe i followed my wiring back until i could disconnect most of it for both EGR and AIR.

Ok, so now that it is pretty much out, i need to start making a list of stuff I need for the cam swap. And I am pretty clueless when it comes to this, I know what all the stuff is (mostly) cam, rockers, pushrods, etc. I don't know what valve lash is, or how to install any of the stuff.
I have pretty knowledgeable friends that have done cam swaps installed bearings etc.
What is a list I need and approximate amount I am going to spend on each, I know it would be probably cheaper to buy it as a package but I wont be able to fork up around 2k for everything at once.
Really what I am going for is a fun weekend/strip car. I have my LS1 to dd, I am more or less looking to take this out for dinner or to have fun at the track. I know they say you cant have reliable and cheap, but this is my first actual engine build, the only other engine I have pulled was my old 350 in my 89 silverado. I guess I am more or less looking to make some good power with the cheapest way possible.
One of my brothers friends works at a machining shop in town and his dad owns it. He said he can port my heads (stockers) for 150-200 depending on how much he is taking out. Is that a good deal? How much power am I looking to get out of ported stock heads?
I was looking to get the 503cc or the GM847, really I just like the sound of them but I dont want to have to rev to the sky to make power.
What am I looking at price wise to build my 4l60e? When should I worry about it going out?
Sorry about the 50 newbie questions.
Thanks everyone!

503 and 847 are no where close to the same cams. one is quite mild and the other is almost too big for stock heads/bottom. An 847 is designed to shift close to 7K, but stock heads will knock that number down some (meaning you dont see its full potential with stock heads).
Heres what i can think of:
Cam
Timing Set
Intake gaskets
Timing cover gasket
water pump gaskets
new timing chain or timing set
pushrods
1.6 roller rockers (NSA)
7/16 studs
locks
retainers
valvesprings - i recommend PAC 1218s / 1518s beehives or Patriot Duals
guideplates (for NSA rockers)
woudl be a good time to replace the opti or the waterpump while youre at it. You can also convert to an electric water pump.
edit: also be careful and do some searching... there might (and by might i mean almost gauranteed) be a few hidden 93-specific surprises.
