    • No I have been debating on getting a dual pod from autometer for $30, trans temp and fuel pressure gauges from glowshift for $115.

      Or

Go with their 3 pillar deal, pod, trans temp, fuel pressure and, volts?? (want wideband but don't want to drop the coin) or maybe rearend temp? Kinda cool... For $176.

I'd like a 3 pillar because I will get wideband eventurally but idk how soon. On another note I don't want to buy another gauge just to get one.

Personally if your going to eventually get a third gauge i would do the triple. I drove a whole season with a empty spot. Just cause its easier to have an empty spot for the future them get a whole new pod. especially if you want to get a wideband down the road. just my 2 cents

I wish I could just not even buy the 3rd gauge. It makes me select a 3rd one :/ I'd rather not waste the extra $60 when it could go towards the wideband later on.

            • Ordered the pod and gauges!!!

              -Trans temp
              -Fuel Pressure
              -Volts

              $150!!

I dont need the volts but it was $15 for it so I couldn't pass it up. Eventually I'll replace it with a wideband.

              • Have you thought about molding the gauge pod into your factory pillar?

I think that's exactly what I'm going to do. If it was spring or summer I'd say otherwise but the car isn't going anywhere any time soon. Only issue doing that is it won't be textured anymore, it'll look like my door bezels. Which isn't a bad thing but I'll have to spray the passenger one to match.

                  • Have you ever used the SEM Texture Coating? It's not exactly the same, but it comes out pretty good if you do the whole pillar in it. If you're doing the pass. side to match anyway then you'll never notice that it's not factory IMO.

Or try to vinyl them if you're feeling masochistic.

edit: Found a pic of the final product with the texture coating:

                    • Water temp is always a good one. Factory GM gauge for water temp blows. The volt gauge seems decently accurate.

                      • I don't think I have used it before. Pretty sure we have some at work. I wonder how easily it chips or scuffs, I guess I don't really touch it but I wouldn't want to have to redo it. It sure looks nice! I'll have to give it a try. Do you think it would cover my stock texture or should I prime/sand them both to get rid of stock texture?

I think I'll use it. Thanks Jim!

                        • On that I'm not exactly sure. I think you might be best off sanding off most of the stock texture, but I've never personally used the stuff, only seen the end result from others who have. As for chipping/scuffing, again can't speak from experience but the ones I've seen in person seemed to have held up well. Not sure if you'd need a plastic prep/adhesion promoter or not.

If you do end up using it, do a quick google search. People use it fairly frequently on the mobile audio forums and you might be able to find some tips for how to spray it. I know there's a little bit of a trick to getting a texture similar to stock.

I have a 160 star and I never see temps above the half way on the gauge. I didn't know what else to order so I ended up with volts. I should of got another trans temp, it probably would of been easier to sell
