Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
This lol.
Doesn?t look so bad in person. I think it?s just the lighting on that picture.

I sold my daily driver yesterday (2008 Ford Fusion). Thing was an amazing car. My wife picked up a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee so I took over her 2017 fusion lease.
Of course I?m going to buy Camaro parts with the spare cash burning a hole in my pocket.
So I purchased a used Yank ss4000 stall from a friend of a friend.
I?ve been looking at the BTR stage 3 or 4 cam kit.
Next will be longtubes and researching some trans coolers. Also been making myself a molded pillar pod that I?ll probably put trans temp in.

You?ll like the Yank converter. I had a SS3600 in my F body. Loved it. The Corvette will get one too, hopefully this summer. For headers check out speed engineering.com great quality and great price.

I?ll definitely be going with speed engineering. Glad to hear about the yank too!

The Yank converters, like any quality converter, are not cheap, but you really get what you pay for. When I bought the one for the F body I found it on Craigslist, brand new in the box for $550 with a SFI flex plate. Wish I could find another deal like that. Will be using the Speed Engineering headers and mid pipe on the corvette too. $480 versus $2000 for Kooks like everybody else seems to be using.
OK...educate me. What does a "top quality" torque converter do that a cheap converter does not? I can see a factory reman not handling a lot of extra H.P., where a stronger aftermarket piece could. But is there anything else to consider?

Is an aftermarket flex plate a requirement or a ?good idea while I?m in there type of thing??
Another thing I have been thinking about is if I should pull the motor or not for the cam swap. I know it isn?t necessary but with a 138k miles on it I?m wondering how far I should go with stuff, oil pump, gaskets, timing chain, seem like a no brainer but cam bearings? Rod bolts? I kinda want to throw a cam in this one until it dies and ?build? another motor (nothing crazy but maybe freshened up a bit.
I drive this car 20 miles round trip to work and back on nice days, it MIGHT see a track day once a summer.

Depends on how much work you want to do. Maybe it's worth having the oil sent out for analysis and seeing if there's any sign of bearing material in there.
Otherwise, 138k on an LS1 really isn't that much if it's been taken care of.
