  • I bought my old 02 Z28 back.

I figured the title was fitting since this is the second time I have bought one of my old fbodys back (previously my 1993 z28). Some of the ?older folk? might remember that one.

I?m trying out this tapatalk stuff. I?m not sure how many people are on these ?forums? now a days since so much has switched over to Facebook.

Anywho, now that I?m and old man with a wife and a 5month old, this is just a slow project car.

I?m in the middle of getting it torn down for paint. I?ll be respraying the whole car.

It has a Hooker blackheart true duals on stock cats and manifolds. It needs headers, bad.

A4 (may 6 speed swap down the road)
    138k
    Ttops
Interior is immaculate for its age.

I?ll be putting in new axles and bearings as they are humming quite bad.

New bmr springs and shocks are waiting to go on.

Oh I definitely remember that car (and the '93, before it).

There are still some of us here, trying to reignite the forum, haha.

This was the one I thought you should never have let go. Glad it has come back to you! Also glad that it's getting some high-quality love right away with the paint and springs. Congratz!

Welcome back! Very nice - always loved that color.

That BH system is easily adapted to LT's - I think a lot of folks over on LS1Tech were mating them to the Speed Engineering headers. I love my Blackheart system (I have the mid-length BH headers).

Glad to hear, it?s simply way to tame sounding right now. Although it?s nice letting the car warm up on the cooler mornings and not walking up the neighborhood.

Progress on the front bumper. Grill hole delete!

I feel like it's just got a great sound without being obnoxious. I bet headers would help it out a ton. Letting off the gas and hearing the engine wind back down is pure auditory heaven for me.

And, FWIW - I have an LS6 intake, the BH system, and a tune. Put down ~350hp/348tq at the last dyno day. Stock, I was 312hp/326tq in very similar weather conditions on the same dyno.

IIRC, you?re 6 speed right? Last dyno day I was fortunate enough to take this car and it put down 298rwhp 323rwtq through the auto with a Lid, otherwise stock.

Yup, M6. Actually, I did have the lid on the 'stock' run. That and EGR/AIR delete were the only mods.

Got the bumper grille holes filled in (for the most part) today. Still need to sand and refill. I used a semi rigid bumper repair. Repaired it from the back with some backing then from the front. I have a few stress cracks that need to be sanded out then I?ll be priming the whole bumper.

I ordered some mesh grill to put behind the 2 openings. I?ll paint it black. Just something subtle.

I really need to do the springs and shocks/struts (whatever they are) before I take it to paint next weekend. I?d like to do the rear axle bearings too but rear ends aren?t my strong suit but I briefly remember how to do them when from when I did them on my 99z I had back when.

I?m not totally set on these wheels (C7 stingrays). I have the set of 10 spokes I sold the car with but 2 are cracked so fortunately I have connections at weldcraft and they should be able to fix me up. Then I?ll send the off to be powdercoated then probably throw these up for sale.

Shocks all the way around - though the fronts are more like a strut, given their coil-over nature, but the upper control arm makes them technically still a shock.

Got a bit more done on the bumper. Should be ready to prime Monday. Also sprayed this little front bracket thingy. It was a bit faded and dingy. I ended up going with a dark charcoal ?magnetic metallic? (ford color). I think I?m also going to do my headlight brackets and fender brackets this color as well. Maybe my intake down the road.

I?ll also be lightly tinting the parking lights as well as getting new depo headlights. Should compliment the front end well.

Where does that reinforcement go? Behind the bumper?
