Yikes - but that is definitely not something they'd have known (removing the primer) until years down the road. An unfortunate cost reduction...

Not to hijack your thread, but I'm going to need your services to restore my SLP SS grille -- my car came from a front license plate state, and in 2001, the factory solution was to drill into the grille for placement of a plate bracket which sat right in front of the SS emblem! D'oh! It also has some stone chip damage.

Have to be thankful the powers that be in Michigan wanted to save $$ and got rid of the front plate.

Got it all done yesterday. Today I have to spray the black parts (grille mesh, mirrors, Camaro letters on the Berger and the z28 badges. Also need to lightly tint the parking light and tails. I?m going to see if I can get a new set of depo lights cheaper through work than amazon.

New headlights are something that turn a nice are into something that just pops. Unfortunately aftermarket lights rarely fit as nicely as oem

According to Kevin, they fit much better if you use the oem brackets.

That paint looks awesome. You do some nice work.

I've never had a problem with the way aftermarket headlamps fit (though I've never changed them on a 4th gen Camaro). My problem has been with how they function, with poorly designed lenses and reflectors that scatter light all about. Look good though.

Interesting. So you base/color coat the bumper, airbrish in the letters, block sand off the excess black, then clear?

Kinda. Base, clear the bumper. Prep bumper, blow some color in letters. Wipe off as much black as you can. Then sand excess off. You don?t want to sand the black off as you might burn through and then you?ll be starting all over. Then clear it.

Cool. Sure beats trying to apply a stencil or pin-striping tape.
