Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
I hate these lull's in progress on the cars. Just too many other things going otherwise.
I did get to attend a nice event last night. I think aside from Woodward and the Culver's Cruise in Lake Orion, this is about the only other thing I've done with the car this year, aside from just pleasure drives here and there. A small cruise gathering at the Rhythm Rodders Car Club in Otter Lake, MI. Quite a few POCI Chapter 16 Widetrackers in attendance too. Beautiful clear evening. Getting a little cool toward the end, but a great drive up and back, and a very nice gathering.
No. The club owns a nice triple(?) or more lot, that has a nice 3 bay plus office shop on it, with large driveway as wide as the building. A small storage shed at the far corner of the property, the rest is grass. The sign shown is on a large post outside the shop. Grilled burgers and dogs, chips, pop, beer, music, 50/50....it was a very nice evening.
Those three cars are parked right next to a house...perhaps the club owns that too? At the very least, a very friendly neighbor.
The Rhythm Rodders are listed among the civic organizations in village on the Otter Lake website. So I get the impression they are in pretty good standing with the community.
Looking at the pics again, that Pontiac "El Camino" prototype (based on the google search I did, it was, yes?) reminded me of what my buddy from college's dad had:
Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
Based on Wikipedia, the Grand Am, in '78, could be had with either the 3.8 V6, the 301 Pontiac V8 or the 305 Chevy V8 (sounds like the latter was only in California), so I was curious, especially since the El Camino itself had an optional 350.

Had a beautiful evening of weather last night, so I snuck out to our local Culvers cruise night. About 200 cars they said, and a very unusual mix. I can't recall the last cruise night I was at that included 3 Packards, a Kaiser Darrin, a Willy's Americar, and a Hudson Terraplane!
Kaiser Darrin. I have seen several of these over the years, with and without the door slid open. But this was the first time I saw one get out of one. Not possible to do in a graceful manner. 50433492168_5900c9d3f4_b.jpg
Packard #2. This was a sweet car. Per the owner, custom body by Murray, also made here in Detroit, as was the Packard chassis, engine, etc. Also bears the Dietrich name, as he designed these bodies in '32, like today years before they were produced. He left Murray, and they built a batch of these bodies for Packard in '36. But there were 4 or 5 bodies left, that were then sold in '37. This is one of 2 '37s left known to exist. 50434352557_172f7b2413_b.jpg
It's Packard engine. The engine is cast aluminum crank case and head, iron cylinder block. As a "Senior" car, the aluminum rank case and head were hand polished. A std. or junior car would have been left as-cast. 50434183791_82cbc30a0f_b.jpg
Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) Chapter #16 Michigan Widetrackers Fall Color Tour this weekend! Maybe a trip to Woodward on Friday night. and then that's probably about it for the year.
