honestly if 500-550 is good for you then there is no need to go crazy with this. Keep your current motor or go 5.3 whichever is cheaper and then run one of Jonnys ON3 units for cheap and 10lbs. Should run great on pump gas maybe add some meth down the road and turn it up a few and have fun. That will be enough to break some parts.

im thinking you better start off a little lower and work your way up.. if you keep it around 8lbs then its going to be around 5-550.. 600 prob isnt happening until your closer to 12-13lbs

The 5.3 should hold 12 or 13 lbs right? Ls2 is gone

            I wouldn't hesitate to give it 12-13psi

Provided the tune is spot on 12-13psi won't be an issue.

Might want to add a methanol injection kit to the list for some added safety

Are you keeping the 98 pcm? Going SD or staying maf?

Mike - you'll need to do some research and see what fits you best. 2 Bar SD is probably the most common for boost - but it cost a little extra for the credits (atleast in HP tuners).

I believe the 98 ecm has a lower resolution VE table - which may or may not be fixed with the 2 bar OS.

Just some things to think about - haha.

for what you want to do i would keep the MAF sensor and not do a SD tune. a MAF tune will be better for street ability and also will run smoother for a car that is just cruised. most guys who do speed density tunes are more race oriented and dont really car about the tune on the street. when i went from a MAF to SD you can deff tell the difference betwen the two with driving around, mileage, and how it runs in general. the MAf was much smoother

Sean, I agree with you that a MAF tune is usually better for the street however he will likely exceed the MAF above 7-8psi. There are options for larger MAF's or for rescaling the stock one but it is generally considered easier and less expensive to just switch to SD. I do my own tuning and I don't notice any difference in driveability (actually the throttle repsonse is better with SD).

Ambient temperature swings can be an issue with OLSD but as long as he keeps the stock o2 sensors and runs CLSD there shouldn't be a problem. From my undrestanding the only reason people run OLSD is because they run race gas and get tired of replacing o2 sensors.

Mike, you have a long time to decide how you want to proceed so don't get too bogged down in the details yet but I will let you drive my car (Speed Denisty tune) and let you decide how streetable it is.
