granted ive never worked with this stuff before, but i dont see why youre not just using an LS1 PCM?? you pretty much have an LS1 minus a few cubes right? plenty of people run stroker LS1s so the displacement shouldnt be an issue.-Joel

hptuners, write entire and it should load a fbody tune in as long as the hardware is the same for the truck and fbody cars.
I have done full write entires before when changing transmissions and doing complete tunes that way. Not sure on the v8 stuff though------------------------------------------

I have no idea what you just said. Haha. Can you load a stock z28 tune into this thing so I can get someone to tune it? Ive found someone local who can do it, but they cost alot more than steve and id much rather give him the business, and I know if brian trusts him with his car, mine is in good hands.1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

This is how I would go about it. HPT licensing and a tune might cost just as much as having someone else tune the pcm how you have it now.Originally posted by 97rs4life View Posthptuners, write entire and it should load a fbody tune in as long as the hardware is the same for the truck and fbody cars.

I had the same idea years ago and I still own HPtuners myself but I don't tune my car nor will I probably ever. The person who tunes my car used to work for GM and has been through years of training on how to tune, the program is useless if you have no knowledge on how to tune. Besides its always on your mind that someone could make your car better than you can just guessing. Leave it to the professionals IMO or become a tuner and really learn it.Originally posted by Schuby87 View PostThis is how I would go about it. Well I hit (quite litterally) a MAJOR snag yesterday. Got into a pretty good accident with my DD, freaking car was like BRAND NEW, less than 13,000 miles on it, fully loaded, and now smashed. The accident was not my fault, and I have full coverage on it, I just have to pay my $1000 deductible (assuming they dont total it). There is a VERY large chance the camaro will be done before the intrepid, it going to need quite alot of work and paint.
So this gives me some ambition to finish the car I guess, assuming I can afford it with my DD smashed up now.1999 Camaro - 6 liters of fury.....

wow that really sucks spence.
Jeff, I dont have much experience to speak from yet - but the ammount of tuning I have learned so far is probably the most rewarding thing about this hobby to me. It increases your understanding of the vehicle by tenfold, and you can always pickup new theories to make your car run better - which is part of the fun of modding IMO
Im sure it isnt for everyone though...
