Well I went ahead and did poly mounts, kinda a pain, but im hoping it will prevent any problems I may have had down the road. Then dave came by and picked up the motor and trans, (thanks again dave), after he left we got the motor in the cradle. It took a little bit of "persuasion" but we got it. and shortly after, my cart type thing I was using to move the v6 and trans around with, broke under the weight of the v8. I also got the brakes off the whole thing so I can get my nice black painted ones on. Anyway, pictures.

Here you can see where my cart broke.... Going to get a plastic one from harbor freight tomorrow, it supposedly holds 1000lbs.

Its the EXACT same one he has, I just had 2 and screwed them together with a big board, so theres no way it should have broke.

Just saw your posts - that sucks about the furniture dolly. Either the LT1 is significantly lighter or mine must be built differently? Actually, looking at this pic mine seems slightly different than yours but not by much. In any case, looks like you're making some damn good progress and you might have yours done before me!

                      • Depends which one he got. There are aluminum block 5.3s, most came in Escalades, but they're very rare compared to the iron block variations.

                          • Bit of an update, I went over to harbor freight and got my plastic dolly, I was a little worried initially that it wouldnt hold the weight, but once I got it, I realized it has 3/4 boxed steel tubing holding it together so my fears recided. And it held, quite beautifly. I also got a starter and got it bolted and wired up, then I moved the brakes from my cradle over to the new one.

Yesterday I dropped my tranny off and Mike Ridings (Ridings Automatics) will start tearing into it tomorrow hopefully, as he hoped to have it done by the end of the weekend! Thats it. I officially cant really do anything else. As soon as I get the trans back this thing is going in the car.

Question, are the ls1 and v6 battery cables the same?

Question 2, are the ls1 and v6 steering joint(the piece that connects the colum shaft to the rack) the same?

Edit: Im also looking or a tuner, Steve isnt going to be able to do mine.

doh my bad. Naturally I was just equating it to an LS1.
