What would be a good asking price for a 5.3 long block?

  • #2
Depends on year and miles. Long block meaning missing accessories, intake, etc?

Years ago I got mine shipped from Portland, OR for $600. 44k miles, fairly complete - missing starter, alternator/PS pump and bracket. I'd say I have about $1200 total into it with the LS1 intake, fuel rail, injectors, harness, ECM, accessories (L99), Z06 cam, LS2 lifters, oil pan, conversion mounts

correct, that also typically includes all covers like rear and timing cover ect but doesn't means accessories themselves. Yours may have a tad more value if its aluminum with the 243/799 heads but they are all ballpark in the 500 range.

Depends if its iron or aluminum, what heads, etc.

I paid $350 for my 60k LM7, complete. Intake to oil pan, all accessories, and the computer.

Christ on a bike, if 5.3L motors are this cheap with low miles I just might put one in everything I own including my John Deere riding lawnmower. Did you guys see the latest GM High-Tech Performance magazine project "Leeroy Jenkins"? The GMHTP clowns took a rusted out 1st generation S10 and dropped a 5.3L + 4L65E in it. It's one of my favorite articles yet. Total sleeper truck.
