Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

I really don\\\'t know which one to get. I have thought about getting the heads milled some to raise compression. What does that usually cost? My dad is friends with a very popular engine builder/machinist in the area. But I still feel I could possibly over pay going through him... I will be getting a converter in the spring (tax refunds). The problem now is LE is giving me three grinds to choose from. I don\\\'t honestly want to have to shift at 6400rpm to get the most out of my engine. However which of the two smaller would make better power then? The custom grind the suggested was 228/236 .576/.571 and they have a \\\"off the shelf\\\" 226/232 .578/.574 I am not an expert by any means. Which one would make better power all around? The custom one has more duration while having less lift. Their \\\"off the shelf one\\\" is just the opposite. I am worried about having to replace optis frequently with the large cam. Otherwise I would go with it.
My vote would be the 228/236. Milling the heads doesnt cost much. I think i paid something like $80 to have it done to mine, i took off .020 and used impala gaskets to get me to 11.4:1
My understanding of opti\'s is that they build heat in high RPMs. In other words, a 7k rpm flash is very unlikely to hurt it, but a 5th gear 150mph pull at 5 grand for over a minute is almost guaranteed to toast it... (and I know of a guy that burned out a brand new one doing the latter)

One with a 236/238 cam. Was a dog till 4k. Was almost not fun to drive, no power around town unless you spin it to the moon everywhere. This was a 6spd car though.

Other specs and especially the tune can play a huge role in that. My buddy had a cam comparable size to that in a 6 speed ls1 and it pulled like a mule all the way through the range.
