Some questions about my LT1

He said $120 or so for the opti, part only, so I'm pretty sure that's the GM one.

Optis from a dealership are 500+. For 120 its probably a knock off cap and rotor kit.

Yeah, I think you can get a genuine GM opti from the parts ladi for around 300 IIRC. For 120 its probably a knock off.

Talked to him today and told him if the GM one wasn't to much more then to use it. The price he gave is just for the part, not labor. He said it did have a life time warranty, but I said for a little extra cash I'd rather have quality for that part.

A life time warranty is great, but changing optis is a pain. In 170,000 miles ive only replaced the opti once. I hope it all works out for ya, good luck, Eric L

That piston looks brutal! In the 12 pages before this it sounded/looked like there were some decent pieces used putting the engine together but obviously had no idea what he was doing whoever put it together. But I would have loved to see the wood screws holding on the Opti!

Quick update. Motor is pretty much put together. Just needs to put oil pan back on since he took the oil pump off the dead motor and put on the one that is going in since it had less miles and looked in better condition. Then as far as I know of, he is pulling the intake to replace the gaskets and to drop the motor in. So hopefully this week, told him the Colbalt has an interested buyer since my in laws are taking it to a local dealer tomorrow morning, so hopefully that's get's him moving a little bit faster on it.

He started putting the new motor in on Thursday night. I went over Friday after work and he already had the motor in. So we started putting the accessories on and routing wires and hooking things up. Left Friday night with most of the accessories attached to motor and ypipe hooked up. Still needed a couple more accessories, radiator, air intake, intake manifold put on, and the wires routed around the engine bay. Talked to him yesterday and he said he's got it running and it's running strong! He said it really surprised him. He still had the computer with the tune in so it was ideling kinda high at idle but other then that runs great. He said he just has to swap the computer reroute a wire then do the tierods and alignment. I should have it back Tuesday or Wednesday hopefully. I haven't heard it run yet, and can't wait. Nice work but why did he even run it with the pcm/tune that led to its death?

The tune wasn't the problem. The problem was the engine was half assed built and put together. There where loose parts, air/vacuum leaks all over, wire's loose and melted. The tune did not kill the car, the ****ing retard who built the motor and the other idiot who owned the car before me killed it.
