wonderin what all you lt1's out there are running. and wondering what you would recommend for me. Lookin for mid-high range power and a cam that can be used with stock applications, with the expetion of the shit iwould normally have to replace/upgrade. Just wondering what your guy's set ups are cam, pistons, roller rockers ect. lay it on me. Thanks everyone Also if you could lemme know rough track time and other mods... just tryin to compare and contrast see whats good and whats worth it to all of you guys.

CC306 you lose even more low end though don't you? Not doing a "CC306 vs CC503" debate but I feel like even with my CC503 I barely have low end compared to how much it pulls mid and high... hit the freeways and it LOVES to go from 70 to 120 in no time at all.- Brian Meissen

as a general rule the more duration you use the more your powerband shifts northbound. but there are a lot more factors that effect this too..... Lift, design of the lobes, lobe seperation, dur split, exhaust back pressure, and scavenging, just to name a few.Originally posted by meissen View PostCC306 you lose even more low end though don't you? I lost considerable power at the wayyyy bottom but by 2k RPM my car is making good power. I couldnt be much happier with my setup. I love the fact that I can throw it in 3rd at 25mph, punch it, and it pulls flat and hard from 2500 RPM right up to the rev limiter at 6200/90mph.
An important thing to remember is to match to your heads. If i wouldve gone with a bigger cam id gain maybe 10hp up top, but id lose alot more down low. if you want a big cam you need the heads to flow it.... otherwise you are shifting your powerband up where the air wont flow anyway, which essentially shrinks the range of your powerband. And then lets say you have the heads. now can your bottom end handle a setup that makes power from 4k - 7.5k? can your computer rev that high? Theres a lot more to consider than the cam itself.
CC306 is about as big as I would consider on stock heads. That said, i certainly wouldnt trade my smaller cam for one. I think the biggest id personally go is an AI 230/238 or a comp 230/236Last edited by JoeliusZ28; December 9th, 2009, 12:00 PM.-Joel

The main thing you need to consider is how high you are willing to rev the car. If you run a cam such as the cc306 and dont move up the stock rev limiter you WILL run slower in the 1/4 mile.
you need to let us know your goals for the car, supporting mods, and how high you are willing to rev it before we can point you in even close to the right direction.

CC 503 with 1.6 RR self aligning. I've got most every bolt on, plus a 4.10 gear. I haven't made it to the track, but would expect a high 12 second pass.sigpic1994 Camaro Z28 83K M6, CAI, AFR 190cc, 11.6:1, Hooker headers, Hooker ORY, Mangnaflow exhaust, AI 230/238, 1.6 RR, B&M Short throw, Hays clutch, 4.10 gear.

manuals should be launched off the limiter and the throttle shouldn't leave the floor til 10 feet after the finish line

The cam we stuck in Red's car was a Comp 292 XFI HR13.
Now she does have a 383 stroker and AFR 195 heads but that damn thing pulls like a mother in all gears and is making 420hp/371trq at the wheels.
Cam spec: 242/248 @.05 .584/.579 lift w/ 113 LSA
But like Ryan said we need to know what you want to do with the car?
