Let the bashing begin in 3...........2..............1............... LT4 hotcam.... i ran one with my 383 and stock heads stock intake and pulled a 13.1 at 109. i realize the time isnt impressive but it was easily a 112/113 trap speed car. which if im not mistaken is a mid to low 12. if not quicker. to me its a cheap swap (if money is an factor) but yea ive heard alot of good about the 306. but IMHO if you want power outta a LT1 pull that thing out. and do either a 355/383/385/396 something along the lines and dont worry about just a stupid cam i doubt youll be that happy. just my two pennies. sorry for ranting lol

I hate the LT4 hotcam but credit where it is due, that is a good time for one.

Im in the middle of building a 396 lt1 with a 292XFI HR13 cam (292/300 duration, .584/.579 lift), AFR 227 heads, Edelbrock RPM Airgap intake manifold, and Compcams behive springs #26918-16, might run nos and at some point going to run an f series procharger, hoping to hit about 500 hp without the procharger

Remember folks stop lights timed for 35mph are also timed for 70mph.

haha hey joel i hated the idea of it. but for my 383 with mids, a/c delete, msd opti, and a mail order tune it ran me 3500 plug and play. so i couldnt ***** and the builder (if thats what you wanna call him) told me he put the hotcam in it cause of me using stock heads and intake so i was like ehhhh i wanted 1.6 rrs and a 306 which wouldve put me easily into the 11s. but hes like thats gonna run you some more cash and at the time i didnt have it. so i was like welp i guess i dont have much of a choice. and idk if it was being that 383 displacement or what but damn she pulled hard 50-100 was like leaving in a sti from the line lol. she pulled real hard. as long as you didnt miss 3rd which i did way to many times. lol

once i get my shit together thats what im going for. a 9 sec or 500+ hp LT1. granted the 500 is gonna be easier. so thats gonna be my first goal. 500 through a built t56 and a nice 12 bolt will put me into the 9s with some really really really crafty driving lol. but mine is gonna look like a stock LT1 with a solid roller. idk if im even gonna paint the motor. lol

Uh you sure 918s can handle that cam? Wouldn't having a dual spring be a lot safer considering the Comp Cams 918 history? Seems like you're doing way more power than those 918s can handle considering they're known to break. Don't get me wrong, I've got 'em in my heads but I don't have that extreme of a cam either.

Those were the springs recommended for the cam, but now that you brought this to my attention, i think im going to find something better lol

918's don't have the issues they used to have. From what i understand they were being outsourced for a small amount of time which led to some defective springs. I think their back on track now.

yea for sure mike. ill prolly be another 5 years before mine is done. my next buy for myself is gonna be a LSx/T56 do a few boltons and get my 3rd gen back together and all that. get a few things together on it. then ima start playing with my LT1. its gonna be a 383/385. and i wanna do it on stock heads and intake just port them. i really wanna prove that you can put 500hp down on a very budgetted build... so well see.

I hope so - like I said I have them with my cc503 cam but I still see threads on Cz28 and LS1Tech all the time from 918s failing. Newer and older batches alike.

Is this a serious build? It sounds to me like just a bunch of name brand parts slapped together.
