It's possible but not a smart idea. Water gets everywhere and can mess with the electronics on cars.

if you do it just cover the dist. and air intake, obviously dont aim the power washer at the computer or anything lol

Umm..cold water on hot engine components could equal cracked parts! I've NEVER heard of doing it that way. Not to mention I would think there's more chance of something shorting out.

the gunk comes off better when its warm

i always get some degreaser and let it soak on the hot engine for 5-10 mins then power wash it once its a little cooler but still warm so all the shit comes off

ahh okay, i power washed my tbird once, just put a bunch of saran wrap over the stuff i didn't want getting that wet.
how do you make it look like you could eat off it, i mean is that generally a professional job? or does that engine degreaser help out alot.

powerwashing with the engine running is the proper method used at detailing shops. Granted, engine running is the method... not warm-engine-up-to-operating-temperature-first-and-then-powerwash. I wash running engines all the time, id never wash one thats up to temperature. You want the gunk to be warm, not steaming hot.

My brother did this once, an alternator and a few sensors later this truck was fixed.

Sorry that you've "NEVER" heard of it before. and actually its the opposite when it comes to most engine electrical components.

correct - youre not trying to do this task with the engine at peak temp just enough to activate the chemicals and break up the gunk.

And to send them in to be restored almost cost's that much.

I thought that was just his restoration costs?

You see him offer wheel resto services on eBay all the time...could be wrong...
