I am thinking about taping off the surfaces, scuffing the chrome with some 320, applying a layer of POR15, and then spraying black over top. Think that would cut it? Definitely alot cheaper than powdercoating at least.

that stuff will shoot through a gun??? I was figuring on just wetsanding it smooth before applying the coat of gloss black on top.

I'd look around for a adhesion promoter for paint on chrome. Will prep'd his chrome wheels by scuffing them and then hitting them with wheel paint and it flaked off within a year...

Well that was the idea behind using the POR15. But good idea, ill check with the dupont store.

I have special thinner that can be used with that stuff to thin it down to shoot through a gun. I'll let you borrow it when you come over thurs

get a quote on powdercoating. When I did the salad shooters they quoted me 25 a wheel to powdercoat. Depending on the level of quality, it may be worth it.

With salad shooters I elected to do it my self but with nicer rims I may just pay to have it done.
