      • apparently they used mutliple layers of powdercoating on these wheels cause this stuff is TOUGH. the upper layer of paint came right off with walmart product. Im about to go see how they turned out now, these two wheels should be about 95% clean now.

          • Well, I think im at the point of admitting defeat. After all this there are still spots on the machined surfaces that WILL NOT BUDGE. Unlike the other stuff, this aircraft stripper dries right about the time it starts working, and the the paint just re-adheres. The powder coating on the insides comes off, its just really, really stubborn.

I dont know what else i can do but im going to get lung cancer if i keep playing with this shit day in and day out. I need to dip an entire wheel in the stuff and even then i dont think it would work.

                  • Do you have access to a mill? You could just re-machine the surface...

                    • the whole point of this was to be a budget project. By the time I do all that I might as well just buy the wheels.

                      • Hmm, I don't think it would be that expensive, but it would be time consuming, with no margin for error...

                        • Could you put masking tape on the machined part that's silver? There has to be a way to do this!!!

the machined part is where there is spots of paint refusing to come off.

                            • Im having the same problem with my set of wheels. I have the exact same set but mine are chrome and they look horrible. The bad thing is that you cant have these wheels sandbasted unless the people doing the work know exactly what they are doing. I have talked to a ton of guys with blasting shops and they wont touch the wheels bc they are Aluminum and they warp very easily. The best thing I have heard so far is taking a dremel tool to the chrome/paint and with very fine sandpaper, just sand it all off. Other than that Idk but the best of luck to you!

                              • I was going to say the same thing - what about a dremel with a polishing tip and some chrome/metal polish?
