  • OK bumping this back up to the top... looking for some input.

Even though i havent tried everything... Im tired of fighting the remaining paint, and ive already created a few blemishes from rubbing the machined surfaces too harshly. Im going to be investing in some polishing equipment. I dont think the end result will look much different anyway.

My question is... is there anything special i should do for paint prep on the inner surfaces? I plan on at least sanding with some ~400 grit, but is there any kind of adhesion promoter i should use? I dont want to do this twice.

also any recommendations on choice of spray paint are welcome. (i do not plan on powdercoating them).

This is my final goal, except im aiming for a little more shine:

        • My local powder coating company told me that it would cost $35 per wheel to coat them gloss black on the inside part. They haven't called me back yet after seeing them in person. The chemicals they said they use could damage the front surface. If your going to polish the front spokes, I would just have someone powder coat them. I bet your looking at $50 max per wheel.

                        • one time i used engine enamel (sometimes the front wheels get hot?)

it held up nice, lasted as long as i had the car (but you know how long i keep my cars )
