I am going to start researching a the feasibility of a factory(ish) appearing LT1 swap. Id use the GMPP single plane style intake manifold with either a carb/distributor or a holley extreme efi (programmable throttle body injection) setup so it will look like a traditional SBC and have the power advantages of a roller cam and reverse cooled aluminum heads... AI cam as well

Its the best SBC block, why not? Cheap and it already has aluminum heads and a roller cam. Plus i already have a core in the garage ready for a build.

Not to mention - you've had years of experience with it, as well.

Thinking, should you move forward with it, mild cam at all (maybe even just the LT4 hotcam)?

                  Youre not the only one

I'll probably go with a smaller AI cam. The biggest id go would be the one i have in my camaro which id probably only do if i built a 383... Which isnt out of the question. Need to have down low grunt with this wide ratio 3 speed. (Unless i add a gear vendors unit)

Not interested in a hot cam, thanks though. I still need to see if the swap is even feasible.

For right now my plan is to change the single corked exhaust to true duals on the stock manifolds and enjoy it that way for a while. Cant afford an Lt build yet. I also had Brian and craig tell me i can pick up some power out of this slug by adding some timing, so i might explore that as well.

Timing and messing with the carb will work wonders.

The exhaust will add tons of sound - the stock one looked a bit on the small side.

I think my biggest "issue" with the truck is the engine is so quiet i hear more transmission/wind/tires over it. And i also have no tach so i never have any idea what the engine is doing!
