Not necessarily. Just depends on what V8 you're looking for and how much you can get from that car.

There are plenty of V8s out there nowadays. It'll probably be around 3-8k for a V8, depending on if you want LT1, or LS1, and auto or manual. You could find a cheap LT1, it'll be a project though. Would you have a like, a checklist for a possible V8?

              Sure! I was thinking LSX.

For the price of an all including lsx swap you are looking at $2000-$3000 I would think. Maybe it's just me, but I would turbocharge the V6. Lots of people have done it, just have to dig a little.

This one was up on the Craigslist listing of the day. It's HIGH mileage. 165k of them. For $3900, its not awful. Probably would need a rebuild.. Get it cheaper and you can do it yourself.

What would you be looking at for a budget if you were to sell your V6 and buy an LS, or LT?

Well putting an LT on my car would be illegal so I'd rather not go that route. As far as going lsx...I would need to be $1500 or less for the block and harness, and another $500 or less on the tranny. I really don't think this will be feasible.

You could try and find a ls1 car or lt1 car. Lt1s can be fairly cheap. But I'd rather see someone do up a V6, I think it would be cooler than another v8. Sure you won't make as much power, but you'll still be roasting civics and mustangs.

Honestly if you do a good job with boosting the V6 I don't see why 350-400 hp isn't possible. Plus it would be very cool and different. Yes if you would boost a V8 you would get more out of it, but sometimes you just have to work with what you have.

My ultimate goal is about 15psi, I'm checking out turbos right now.

No point in a turbo with the T5, 3rd gear will likely grenade in boost

Well that's vague. Why third? What's the weak point? How much boost?

I realize a lot of people say the t5 is a weak transmission, but I figure if you drive it like a normal person it should hold up for a while.
